  1. I hadn't heard anything about this for a while, so I was wondering if Jen was still attached. Seems so! So if it is coming out in November, 2017, they will probably be filming this fall/winter, after she is done filming the Aronofsky project. http://deadline.com/2016/06/battlestar-galactica-francis-lawrence-lisa-joy-universal-pictures-1201770133/
  2. LOL! Thanks for being polite, but no, I had no clue. I thought it was from Monday last week. Newbie here. Thanks for the information.
  3. But last Monday was Memorial Day weekend, so while the number is what it is, comparing a work Monday to a holiday is apples and oranges. I don't think it is 'against sequels' although new material at this point might have a draw just for novelty, I think it is 'movies people want to see' and 'movies people don't want to see'. Just being a sequel isn't enough, but the bomb of so many sequels is because Hollywood is making little else. If they made bad original material it wouldn't go anywhere, either, imho.
  4. Wow, you guys get a lot more trailers than Arclight shows in LA. When I went to see XMen (twice on opening weekend) there were considerably more open seats than full ones, but not nearly empty, and not peak times. And the theater was showing it in two different theaters. I got Tarzan and Bourne (maybe one I forgot but definitely not more than three). I was disappointed with Tarzan's trailer, as I want the movie to be good, and the Apes didn't seem well done (and they are kinda central.) Bourne was better than I expected and got me interested in seeing it. I hadn't even been paying attention to it.
  5. Thg A- CF A- M1 B+ M2 B+ But I can't separate the fact that I didn't like the last book as much as the first two from how I rate the movies. Strictly speaking, I should only be grading the skill in presenting the stories, but the first two stories I liked better than the third. And NOT because I needed more games, I just came to care for the characters and didn't like where they ended up.
  6. I don't care where they are. the plots are always just a scenario to frame the characters. I like this iteration of Star Wars.
  7. GOTG2 won't have Avengers, but Avengers Infinity War will have Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon, as I understand it. http://moviepilot.com/posts/3910463
  8. because you have seen her mention pizza this year - or last - and not from a gif from years ago repeated and repeated and repeated because media seems to get so much click attention on anything related to her that they ignore other news? (And PS, how many other celebrities are doing the exact same thing without media caring?) Blame media for their single actress fixation. And, I disagree on the 'public tiring' bit in any event since she still does so well with the statistically predictive real life polls. No one can say how the movie would do without her. It is the second best opening Fox ever had in China. If you are going to pin any lower box office on her, surely it is only consistent to attribute the $400 + million it got world wide in 10 days to her as well?
  9. on the other hand, even in its second week in most markets (not China) X-Men Apocalypse is number 1 overseas
  10. I went back a few pages to like your dancing gif and didn't find it, so I am liking this one instead... carry on!
  11. Warcraft's impact is the question, later on, but yeah, China gave XA a warm welcome.
  12. Yeah, XMen is doing great in China, top OW IMAX Fox has ever had, and second highest OW in China overall for Fox. We'll see what happens when Warcraft comes in, but it sure started off on a good foot.
  13. I'm pretty sure she called out XMen to give her issue a higher profile, not the other way around.
  14. So in other words XA is taking in as much as TMNT Friday, if you don't count Thursday. And I remember Alice numbers were adjusted down, and XAs barely were last weekend (in the decimal place.) But since they will count Thursday previews with TMNT I guess I'll only get personal satisfaction if XA actually beets TMNT Fri,Sat,Sun.
  15. Other people were saying they started at 5, there was discussion about how early they have to be before it would stop being called a 'preview'... But for a kids' movie it makes sense.
  16. 4Chan is a board that has both good and bad aspects (I have never visited.) On the good side, it doesn't track people and people can post privately without giving 'real life' credentials or identity (as a civil libertarian I think that is good.)  On the bad side, because of that, there is no accountability and people can post lies and harmful content.  Given your avatar you might care that when Jen's private intimate photos were stolen, it was on 4Chan that they were reputedly housed, so those who wanted to spread them around forever, regardless of the public humiliation to her of publicly publishing intimate acts with her boyfriend, could find them easily.

To most people 4Chan is just a place where there is no accountability, and posters have no reputation to protect.

  17. I wouldn't be surprised, fwiw. Personally, I have been thinking XA might possibly have the top slot over TMNT, given the ticket sales data we've seen, but if I owned an IMAX theater and could pick between Disney releases I would definitely pick TMNT over Alice.
  18. I'm hoping word of mouth will give it stronger legs than most XMen films. I think the critics undersold it at least as far as its intended market is concerned.
  19. posted in the Clubs subforum (it is a few weeks over six months out) PASSENGERS Over 200 DOM -- Full Run http://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/21902-passengers-over-200-dom-full-run/
  20. Thank you! -- edit, I started a thread in the clubs subforum because it is a little more than 6 months until opening in the US. http://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/21902-passengers-over-200-dom-full-run/
  21. As a general question for anyone who knows the answer, if I start an >200 DOM club for Passengers, I would mean that to be its full run, not just the part of its run that would fall into this calendar year. Is that how it would be taken by the rules of this place? Thanks.
  22. I am hearing about La La Land from the strangest sources I thought paid no attention to movies at all, so I'm taking a chance on it. I'd better look at what is opening near to it in time, though. I'll think about Strange, I'll look into the general enthusiasm around it, more. I just think there are too many. I was figuring SS would be more likely to make it than Dr Strange just because of the built in DC fanbase. I did include it in my longer list of possibilities. I'm really just starting to focus on this stuff, so I figure this list is part of my learning curve...
