I think Oblivion will probably end up between 100m and 110m. -

Finke is saying 39 -
I agree, it was overrated. It felt slight and awfully comedic and light to me.

Catching Fire and Star Trek will come nowhere near those numbers; remember this isn't America. I also expect a dip in grosses for The Hobbit part 2 and don't expect Iron Man 3 to make 40.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
pieman replied to Impact's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I really enjoyed this film. Lots of cynicism on this board but that might have more to do with the influence of critics on shaping some members opinions. Also, I've noticed people taking everything in this film rather literally; choosing to ignore metaphors and deeper meanings. B -
Ford could win as a sort of life achievement award.

42 could absolutely get nominated if it is a big hit.

I did see the "only in cinemas for one week" subtitle on all of the ads

Wow, that's a huge average especially for a re-release. They haven't done well here, have they? I was surprised by how low the theatre count was though.

Early Weekend #s - The Call Ahead Of Wonderstone!
pieman replied to Ezen Baklattan's topic in Numbers and Data
Burt Wonderstone was surprisingly good. One of the funniest comedies in a while once you get through the first half hour. -
I would be surprised if it really disappoints here because I consider The Wizard of Oz to be just as entrenched in our culture as it is in America. Surely, the majority of Australians have seen the film or are at least familiar with the central characters and iconic images of the film.

Warner just dumped Cloud Atlas. They clearly couldn't be bothered to market a movie that had not played well in pretty much every country it's been released in. I'm surprised it didn't go straight to DVD over here.

Really? I Give It a Year? I was not expecting that at all. I saw very little promotion for it.

- Trintignant not getting nominated wasn't a shock but a big snub in light of both the remarkable performance and the strong showing for Amour - Bigelow not getting nominated was a much bigger crime than snubbing Affleck, her work was on a totally different level
