  1. Yes, Black Swan was good because it was coherent. mother! is the opposite of coherent. I have no fucking clue what they were trying to do with this, if they even knew what that was.
  2. And I still felt robbed. If I wanted to watch an experimental film, I can watch a college student's work. On YouTube. For free. But that's what I get for not reading reviews and trying to walk into this with a clean slate. I ended up not getting what I hoped for.
  3. Saw it at a 3:30 PM showing. While the film had my attention for much of its duration, I felt like I still wasted my time when I watched it. The film tries too hard to fling too many symbols and perceived "metaphors" in the film to the point where I just stopped trying to figure out all of it. Very convoluted, but still somewhat entertaining, so it just gets a 5/10 from me. If you want to see it, do so on a $5 Tuesday. $7.25 felt a tad too much for this kind of experience. And I still don't understand what people see in Aronofsky. Another Get Out or "deep and meaningful horror film" this was not. It was claptrap.
  4. The original Flatliners I enjoyed watching. But I have no interest in seeing this because it just looks like something Sony pulled out of the closet and said "HEY, let's dig this resting body out of its grave!" And it shows in these trailers. It doesn't feel like a sequel to Flatliners, but another fuck up from that damn company.
  5. Agreed. Even if Stan and Mike didn't do much, I still much prefer having them around. They did not hurt the film in any way.
  6. I heard that Marquee sold out two showings last night. On a fucking MONDAY. That doesn't happen in my area unless it's a Star Wars film!
  7. Just to give you a perspective of how big the opening weekend was: IT had a higher opening weekend total than Gravity and The Martian's opening weekend totals....combined. Fucking. Insane.
  8. If this film even makes a modest profit for Warner Bros., I will be stunned. The fact this it was filmed in 2014 says everything. It's another Monster Trucks.
  9. Yeah, I caught that too. I think the misaligned cheek bones and haunting eyes make for an interesting creature design anyway, so I wasn't bothered by it.
  10. I never would have thought I could be so happy that a film is doing gangbusters at the box office.
  11. So far, IT isn't scared of sports, adult life, OR Hurricane Irma. Imagine how things would be if Florida wasn't getting hit with the storm this weekend. The numbers would be even higher than they already are.
  12. What is not so coincidental is that I've seen red balloons tied to sewer grates since Saturday. That is not coincidental. But in your case? I'd be paranoid.
  13. This is a fucking GREAT weekend for the box office. After the August drought, September has a hit that nobody would have seen coming before the first trailer was released. Mojo is reporting $117 million for IT's opening weekend? That is fucking insane! Can any future September releases top that amount?
  14. Yeah, I recognized that part. It's just that, coming from that background of being in a religious family and myself being a skeptic (even now), it made sense to me when I saw him go through that stage when his perception of reality was challenged. Granted, I never saw clowns in the sewers. I just think I saw what they were going for with his character.
  15. I actually believe Stan's character could have been well portrayed if he had more to do. But I do believe there was more to him than people suspect at first glance. He wasn't studying the Torah for his bar mitzvah and he didn't take it seriously at all. Of course, he was also the skeptic when it came to It/Pennywise's activities, and even argued that nothing they saw was real. He took it the hardest when he realized that the things they went through were actually happening. Fast forward to the montage, and he successfully completes his bar mitzvah. Basically, his lack of belief in It/Pennywise in the beginning reflected a lack of faith in his religion. He was a skeptical type of person who didn't take his studies seriously. At least, that's how I interpreted it...
  16. Not only that, but he's also slated to direct Paramount's Dracul, which could get in the way of things as well. At least, I'm assuming he's pegged to direct it. There isn't a lot of clarity about what role he's playing.
  17. I would be surprised if this happened. If they start production in March like they keep saying they are, I can see the earliest point of release being in the Summer of 2019.
  18. I have to say, after reading the second half of Fukunaga's first draft script, I'm happy that he left the project. That draft was as mediocre as they come. If Pennywise had turned into a fucking starfish creature, I would have been disappointed.
  19. I have to say that I feel Mike was just treated as a token black character. No need for the PC police, because really, he truly IS more developed in the book. I realize now that they could have fixed this up and had Mike play a more integral role. Like with Stan, he was sort of "just there." Mike was a key player in the novel.
  20. IT September 7th, 7:00 PM, 100% full Park Place Stadium Cinemas | Charleston, WV Extremely reactive crowd that was fun to be around. Trailers Death Wish - Some laughter. Flatliners - No reactions. Blade Runner - This got some excitement from a number of individuals. Friend Request - EVERYBODY made fun of this trailer. People were surprised many times by jump scares. Some looked away when certain things happened to characters. Overall, people had very positive things to say about IT. Word of mouth will make this a monster to overcome.
