Been doing some thinking and analyzing feedback I got from my animated films this year and have decided the respective tone I want for each of them. The Music In Me will be somewhat of a departure from my normal animated fare as I want more of a Coco like tone where although it has some humor, it is more focused on the music world and the themes, especially sisterhood. Sincerity and perhaps originality where probably the two greatest sins Medusa suffered from which I want to avoid. Pigeon 2 will be more or less the first, traditional animated cutesy comedy but with a bit more bite (not as in satirical but rather some of the themes). Super Mario Bros will naturally be comedic but not self referential as I feel for me, considering the immigration stance this movie takes, while they’ll naturally be comedy in this due to the world they are in, Mario needs sincerity in order for me to make something special.

What about Jonathan Testicles?

Fun fact: Blue and Gold was supposed to start a cinematic universe with a Hive Team New Mutants esque spin-off that would’ve lead into Young Justice, as well as Green Lantern, Flash and Supergirl. But I realized that some work better separate and that is what I like. Blue and Gold will be a buddy comedy series, Static Shock is more teen oriented and Green Lantern will evolve into a full out space epic.

@cayommagazine Shamiek Moore (DragonBorns, Artifacts’ Zephyr’s Crest) has signed on for Static Shock: The Cure as Rubberband Man, hinted at from the first movie.

Thank you for #12 and #15. Surprised you liked Static Shock that much. Out of curiousity will we be getting grades also?

DragonBorns will still likely be the biggest as it’s the big PG-13 tentpole, and Silent Hill and Duck Hunt, and Tintin with the next heavy hitters. My Life has a chance but I will likely move it. The rest are all way smaller releases.

It’s a good comparison, I’m just pointing out some of the circumstances. I also forgot about Dumbo’s reviews as well.

Actually now that I think about Dragon 3 can also really work. That said I think Pikachu will open higher than all of them barring Incredibles 2. I sort of like Incredibles 2 ticket comparisons the best as they have some similarities. High social media/trailer buzz, plays towards the nostalgic crowd, and it’s first major family movie in a while. The only problem is I2 is animated which cause presales to be a bit more deflated, then again it was a hyped up sequel. Shazam is also my second favorite but as it is PG-13, it was limited to truly benefiting from families as a PG film or an animated film. I sort of like Dumbo and Christopher Robin and they make a lot of sense, though I imagine the female audience was more prominent ergo higher sales.

In my honest opinion, Spider-Verse, Dumbo, Incredibles 2 and Shazam all seem like good comparisons as they skewed older for family films and had stronger presales. Venom or Ant Man and The Wasp can also work (for me at least) as both had low presales at my Cinema.

I think @Nova meant as in they are both live action PG family friendly films. While I’m sure Pikachu will open higher than both, the comparison makes some since as they would skew older than traditional animated films in terms of presales. Beast as a comp wouldn’t really work as that was a presale monster due to the female fan base or Jungle Book as it is too long ago.

I actually think the June 3rd spot is better for Pikmin, TMIM would’ve eased down a bit, the post Memorial Day weekend spot works for animation and though Carmen’s Voyage may hurt it’s legs, it’ll recover but it doesn’t have to worry about Voltron 3 taking away attention.

Playmobil isn’t happening as the date was when Open Road has it.

I think it may use this song in Blue and Gold II somehow.
