  1. I get the feeling that keeping Fran out of the room would probably get a deal done within days.
  2. Interesting that the trades pile on Fran but not Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. I am wondering if Fran's refusal to back down is the problem.
  3. Ghostbusters was never going to make 2023 TBH, the move to 2024 was inevitable.
  4. Paramount is probably glad they're only distributing, Apple don't really care, the money lost will be made up in iPhone sales alone.
  5. TBH The Last Duel would have flopped even if Leo had been it instead of Matt Damon.
  6. I prefer the live action 101 Dalmatians as Glenn Close as Cruella is top notch casting but Cruella comes close as a film.
  7. It's mad that The Wolf of Wall Street got a C Cinemascore but yet is one of the highest grossing Marty movie. Honestly Killers getting $20m+ is okay considering both the runtime and the subject matter. I do think that directors like Marty and Ari Aster get overindulged and there are times where studios should intervene such as the James L Brooks film How Do You Know which bombed for Sony and cost $120m.
  8. Ernest was such a pathetic loser, Leo played him really well, it's a three way tie between DeNiro, Leo and Lily Gladstone in terms of performance. I'm impressed how quickly the murders were solved even if it took a long time to even be investigated.
  9. Duncan Crabtree-Ireland wasn't much better, going to different things like NYCC. If the industry is on pause, don't go to these events.
  10. I did like Killers of the Flower Moon but it could have lost 15-20 minutes and I struggle to see where $200m went to because to me it felt like a $100-120m movie tops.
  11. I normally like Fran but honestly between the Italy trip and the Halloween guidance, it's stuff that could have easily been avoided.
  12. Nolan is a very efficient director, I think he's one of the few directors who was under budget on a few films. Marty is a great director but budget control is not his strong point.
  13. TBH if the budget had been lower, say $80-100m tops I think the OW would be fine but I think Marty's issue is that he wants big budgets for risky projects and you can understand why studios are reluctant.
  14. The AMPTP are biding their time and my guess is that once SAG drops the revenue sharing proposal, a deal will happen.
  15. SAG leadership rejecting the Clooney proposal is one thing but I do think they've shot themselves in the foot with their Halloween guidance.
  16. Disney isn't going to that badly affected without DP3 next year.
  17. I have to admit there are some titles I had completely forgotten were released by Disney like The Sixth Sense. Fun fact, Bruce Willis did three films for Disney on reduced salary due to an unfinished film called Broadway Brawler which Disney lost $17m. The three films were Armageddon, The Sixth Sense and The Kid. Turned out to be a great decision for Willis as the first two were big hits.
  18. Surely the most Christmassy not-Christmassy movie is Wonka.
  19. Trolls for example has already been released OS so pushing it back is not happening. To me, if the marketing campaign is in full swing, it's not moving.
  20. SAG's leadership are coming across as massive killjoys with their costume rules.
  21. I'd move The Fall Guy to June or July, Snow White to May, Mickey 17 to August to name three example A lot of films which are either undated or close to wrapping and not due to much later like Beetlejuice and Juror Number 2 can remain where they are.
  22. SAG? the AMPTP? Both? I do think Fran and Duncan aren't painting themselves as competent and indeed the fact they've both gone on work trips (Italy for Fran and NYCC for Duncan)
  23. I do think the big name actors will have a say on getting SAG and the AMPTP back talking even if it's not this proposal.
