  1. TBF to DEH it had a good run for an original musical with productions around the world, the movie didn't help but I think it would closed anyway, likewise with Come From Away which closed around a similar time as DEH. With Cats, the movie sucking and failing won't kill interest in it. It's one of those shows which excels on the stage. I'm really want a Miss Saigon movie simply because it's one of the few musicals which is very cinematic in its staging. The Book of Mormon which I do like would be harder to pull off as a movie.
  2. I like 1989 as an album, my favourite song from that is Welcome to New York which must be the only Taylor Swift song that was used so much in movies that didn't get a single release.
  3. Honestly $2.8m is really impressive considering how they added the show at the last minute. I do wonder if we'll ever see a theatrical production crack the top ten? I know in the US, SAG and American Equity can't seem to agree on how a recorded performance is compensated. it's not an issue elsewhere such as British Equity since theatre and film are agreed by the same union.
  4. It does make me think that the AMPTP are hoping SAG drops the revenue sharing or at least comes up with a slightly more appealing proposal.
  5. I think November is likely only because I don't think SAG has enough reserves to keep it going longer than that.
  6. The revenue sharing by SAG is not going to happen because I suspect it would mean others would demand it and end up being too costly
  7. Greenlighting pilots can be done now since the writers are no longer on strike as well as January. The other alternative is straight to series which also can be done now as well. I do think there is a massive amount of hyperbole regarding the SAG strike and like the WGA strike, tempers on social media need to be cooled down.
  8. TBH certain people thought the WGA strike would bleed into next year and cause Hollywood to collapse and that didn't happen. I think if the revenue sharing is dropped or amended then probably we'll see a deal done at the next talks.
  9. I don't think it'll be months before talks resume again, indeed I imagine 2-3 weeks. When talks resume, I think they need to stop with one day on, one day off.
  10. TBH DWA has been outsourcing bits of productions for the last decade so expanding it doesn't surprise me.
  11. Fury Road has been the can for a while so moving it up wouldn't be a surprise. I think Garfield will move as well and displace the already delayed Harold and the Purple Crayon. Mickey 17 is one where I wonder if WB will delay it? Could easily play in July or August or possibly November.
  12. Have to admit, the day on, day off by both sides is strange especially compared to the WGA.
  13. I find it amusing that no one that spell Drew Barrymore's surname.
  14. I assume Universal is paying a portion of the budget in exchange for OS rights. Weird that Lionsgate is keeping Japan but not UK but I wonder if Universal wanted UK distribution and Lionsgate didn't argue.
  15. Why would they take a pay cut, you're not going to see anyone in senior management be paid the same as the employees below them, that's simply unrealistic.
  16. That might be SAG's secret weapon if CEOs start making difficult demands. 5 minutes with Fran doing her Nanny voice and they'll surrender.
  17. The takings for the Disney rereleases are impressive considering they're only 2 showings over a weekend but also they're priced a lot cheaper than regular releases.
  18. The hot takes on this thread were hilarious, some were predicting Ruby Gilman and TMNT to both outgross Elemental which turned out not to be true.
  19. Not much between The Creator and Saw.
  20. Paramount and Spin Master are laughing their way to the bank with Paw Patrol. $23m is very good for a film that cost $30m and given there is little competition both domestically and OS, it'll make a healthy project. Disney aren't going to lose much from The Creator as they only distributed and marketed it, the budget was paid for by New Regency and I think eOne.
  21. Maybe Lucky Hank which is an AMC show which has an exemption. Otherwise I'm not sure. TBH given actors have been able to promote other things, the talk shows should be okay for the time being. They should try and get Daniel Radcliffe and/or Jonathan Groff given they're in Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway.
  22. SpongeBob isn't part of SAG, Nickelodeon wouldn't let him join.
  23. Paw Patrol's OW looks low but it's higher than the first film with only a marginal increase in budget. No wonder Paramount has greenlit a third movie.
