  1. It works really well as a play, you don't get what you see on stage from reading a script.
  2. What is this third theme park at Universal Orlando? I would assume The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will expand but don't Universal have other things planned like a Secret Life of Pets ride? I'm not a theme park sort of person but Universal Orlando sounds great along with Disney World. Are Disneyland and Universal Studios in California any good, I went to the Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood as I only had a limited time in LA and the surrounding areas and thought it was excellent.
  3. I wonder if they'll be any cinemas showing Murder on the Orient Express in 70mm?
  4. Warner Bros has mid November locked with Justice League next year, FB2 in 2018 and FB3 in 2020. mid November 2019 is currently empty but they do have a DC film scheduled for 1st November which they could easily push back three weeks or schedule another WB tentpole.
  5. I imagine Universal will be adding a FB section to the park, WB already has added a costume exhibition to the Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood and I imagine they'll keep some of the FB sets for the WB Studio Tour London once the films are done. I am sort of surprised that Warner Bros Studio Tour London doesn't do temporary exhibits like WB Studio Tour Hollywood for other WB properties, I'm sure the DC Universe exhibit would attract visitors unless they solely focused on making it Potter only.
  6. I think Warner Bros has a good balance of tentpole and non tentpoles and they've had more profitable films thanks to New Line films plus midbudget successes like Sully, The Accountant etc even the not so successful films like Storks will eventually make money. Universal have done okay, they were never going to hit the heights they did last year but aside from Pets, they've had a number of successful films like Bourne, Bridget Jones etc
  7. Yes, Deadpool which is currently the third biggest OW this year had a five day opening
  8. FB's OW will be third biggest this year excluding previews and fourth biggest with previews if it does £12-13m. £14m would put it within spitting distance of BvS and Civil War
  9. It helps in the case of WB that they own the DC characters so they get a cut from any licensing from the movies. In the case of BvS, they had product placements and partnerships with Turkish Airlines and other brands.
  10. Through creative accounting, Forrest Gump and Lord of the Rings were money losers, this is why actors and other creatives ask for percentage of gross and not share of profits
  11. If Sony were able to drag Spectre to $200m then I think Fantastic Beasts might be able as well with a $70-75m OW
  12. I think if Warner Bros gets the Bond distribution rights, that'll be another franchise they can have under their belt for the November slot along with DC and FB.
  13. It could be they were having trouble cracking the story so have decided to pull the plug. DWA likely is going to see many cuts under Comcast to reduce costs which likely means projects will be axed.
  14. I don't see JL doing the same OW as BvS, if it did or a tad lower that would still break the November OW record.
  15. I suspect Fantastic Beasts and DC films will fill the mid November slot for the foreseeable future, I imagine if Ready Player One is a hit and they decide to do a sequel, it could also another one for the mid November for WB in 2021 or 2022.
  16. Justice League has a plum slot but $850-900m wouldn't be too surprising. It would need to be very good to touch $1bn
  17. They've made over $1.6bn combined from DC films this year so they can't be too disappointed and I expect Wonder Woman and JL will do very well next year. FB is an continuation of their relationship with JK Rowling, as long as it does solid numbers then they'll complete the Fantastic Beasts franchise, i imagine WB wants to adapt Cursed Child but that'll be a while before they even attempt it.
  18. Emilia was very good in Me Before You, I think a comedy would be good for her, her real personality is much more bubbly compared to her role in GoT.
  19. I think this has the potential to grow its audience, maybe not domestically but I could it increasing overseas. It's a shame it's not coming until 2018.
  20. Fantastic Beasts is really good so I hope it can do at least £8-9m but I think it'll do a tad more, the competition next week is only Allied, A United Kingdom and Bad Santa 2 which won't much of a dent so it'll be number 1 again.
