  1. I wonder if Shawn Levy will ever do an Oscar bait film, his strengths is in comedy, fantasy and action, he would my top choice to direct Shazam.
  2. It's possible they move to Vancouver or somewhere with generous tax breaks like Blue Sky who are based in Connecticut.
  3. It'll probably be lower than Pets because it's got a staggered OS release with some early releases and some late releases. The UK where Pets did very well isn't getting Sing until January and only has 2 weeks plus previews until Lego Batman, still think it'll do decently but not huge numbers.
  4. Arrival is very good, it's slow but it's worth the watch. I'm surprised it only cost $47m to make with the talent involved and the CG aliens. I notice 21 Laps produced Arrival, Shawn Levy seems to be picking great projects to produce from Stranger Things to this. He's a solid director but he's carving a good reputation as a producer.
  5. I think the budgets will be trimmed further, maybe not to Illumination levels but $90-100m. I think DWA overextended themselves when they started making 2-3 films a year and the quality novedived.
  6. Renner has Mission Impossible as well so he do a film like Arrival in between franchise films,
  7. I doubt he'll ever do a blockbuster but he'll do more midbudget films with $50-70m budgets, studios will take a risk with him if he delivers with Blade Runner
  8. Many directors have relationship with studios, Nolan has WB, Ridley Scott Fox, Spielberg was Universal and his offices at Amblin is based there, Eastwood is WB as well.
  9. Villeneuve has really proven himself with Prisoners, Sicario and now Arrival. Blade Runner 2049 is in safe hands and I imagine he'll be approached for bigger films in the years to come.
  10. Paramount also has Chinese distribution rights to Arrival so I imagine the $60m they paid for the rights and P&A will be recouped from both domestic and China maybe even a profit.
  11. Warner Bros has a film a week after each other with S.C.O.O.B, this and the DC film on 5th October. I'm guessing one or two of them will move slots
  12. Doctor Strange has 3D and IMAX which means it'll likely make more money even with less attendance compared to Arrival.
  13. One thing I liked about the film was how visually stunning it is, considering this is only Tom Ford's second film, he's proving himself to be a solid director, I do wonder if he might put his fashion career on hold to do more directing.
  14. Haven't seen Arrival yet but saw Nocturnal Animals which was pretty good. It'll be interesting which of the two films Amy Adams might get nominated for as leading actress.
  15. Warner Bros moving it up 10 months and with early screenings for critics shows they're super confident in the film I wonder if WB will try and get a piece of Defence for the Prosecution which Affleck is directing and possibly starring for Fox or if they'll just Affleck do that then bring him back into the fold for other projects
  16. Would Batman be his equivalent of Dirty Harry? Affleck likely can pick whatever project he wants for WB and gets the huge payday for playing Batman.
  17. Arrival is a boost for Paramount although they're only distributing it domestically so it's a low risk film for them, Sony is handling it in some OS markets with local distributors handling the rest. I do find it interesting that Paramount only opted for US distribution for Arrival but they did the same with Wolf of Wall Street and Silence.
  18. Stupidly, Universal aren't releasing in the UK until late January, I guess they wanted to avoid Moana but it'll only have two weeks + two days of previews to itself until Lego Batman which is probably hurt its legs. Pets had three weeks + two days of previews before it hit the double whammy of The BFG and Dory but it had summer weekdays which Sing won't have, there is half term which is a week off school but i think Lego Batman will dominate
  19. I think it'll be lower than Pets OS but I reckon $250m+ is likely domestically.
  20. Netflix wouldn't be surprising but I could see Adult Swim making a play for it maybe to pair with Samurai Jack
  21. Warner Bros has had a much better year compared to the last two years but I would say their midbudget films like Sully and The Accountant as well as the New Line films have been a factor along with the big tentpoles.
  22. She is like the new Alan Tudyk and John Ratzenberger, a good luck charm in animated films
  23. She is like the new Alan Tudyk and John Ratzenberger, a good luck charm in animated films
  24. I think X-Men having a huge cast of characters works so it didn't need to interact with other Marvel characters
