i get your point with this post but i’m not sure your tone is in the best taste lol. like, even if people on twitter can be loud/annoying about it, it’s objectively a good thing that we have made social progress on how we view age of consent laws, power dynamics & age gaps and it feels weird to indicate otherwise?? 😀

bummed i missed the coda discourse but as an actual coda myself i really don’t like the movie and find it to be both an oversimplification of deaf family dynamics and a disservice to codas & deaf parents— ESPECIALLY don’t like how they use her love of music as a source of tension/conflict, especially when virtually any deaf person i know would not react angrily about their hearing child wanting to sing. sound of metal slams if you’re looking for a movie w good deaf representation imo

it’s kind of baffling how WB has managed to implode goodwill for its two biggest franchises so completely (DC & harry potter) — due in part to bad actors like ezra miller & jk rowling, yes, but mostly due to a series of really stupid, entirely avoidable creative decisions and just a glut of terrible product. the last 5-10 years should go down in history as a cautionary tale of how to alienate hardcore fans and general audiences at the same time. james gunn has his fucking work cut out for him that’s for sure.

people coping rn is crazy. how is there even room for it with this movie anymore. it’s done! it’s catastrophic! flash is not doing anywhere close to 3x with this kind of WOM and buzz, and even *if* it did that would still be what, 165? under black adam and way below basically everyone’s expectations just a few weeks ago? what is left to cope about?

i liked it more than i expected, but am i the only one who found ezra miller kinda laughably bad in this? they were okay as past barry but future barry just genuinely has some of the most off-putting line delivery and expressiveness i’ve seen in a major blockbuster. not sure if that’s just hindsight with me knowing everything about miller’s background though.

Weekdays Thread (5/15-18) | Guardians $5.18M Monday
Eevin replied to ThomasNicole's topic in Numbers and Data
gonna be very hard for guardians to drop under 50% this weekend i feel like, just given the amount of screens it'll lose and assuming a 25-30% drop on thursday. 28-32m seems like the sweet spot, which would be just fine and put it at 265ish by sunday. the same tuesday-to-weekend multiplier as last week would put it at 36m, which feels like the best case scenario given how much more competition there is over last weekend -
I seem to remember them predicting something like 120m for JW1 back in 2015 (though obviously that blindsided everybody) but yeah this would be a pretty big whiff if it happens

Saw this last night and WOW, almost every single joke in this movie is atrocious. Even by Illumination standards. I liked it more than I was expecting (for other reasons), but it's genuinely one of the most painfully unfunny movies I've ever seen

i just saw this again for the second time and i really liked it way less. i still think there’s a solid 45 minute chunk of pure Raimi awesomeness but the script and some of the rushed effects are genuinely really hard to ignore on rewatch. i’m still glad marvel branched out a bit and i hope that they continue to. and lmao at the idea that a super niche *doctor strange* movie doing over/under 400m/1b is a sign that the mcu is weakening. let’s see how thor and black panther — two waaay more popular franchises — hold up before we go down that road lol.
