  1. Silence, Kundun, Age of Innocence, etc... If you are an adult and love movies, wtf are you doing not getting yourself out of the house watching any latest Scorsese release blindly ? I imagine people that "love movies" in the sentiment used in that sentence, do so, that indicate there is just not that many of such people.
  2. Nobody except him (arguably for some of those example, those movie at those budget would not exist to be turned down), there is always the risk is to loose is ability to get that level of distribution, artistic freedom and budget (and is next role with a great director that really want to get the giant budget and artistic liberty. If 3 of is movies would fail in row it would probably loose a significant amount of that green light power, a 100m Wolf had quite the chance to fail, same for a unknown above 100m The Revenant and so on.
  3. If some fancy London eccentric rich guy want to finance this message board creating many persona to play with like some strange murder mystery diner party, I would say let him do it (who care ?), but I would ask him to be more subtitle-better at it.
  4. True for Tarantino, but there is a reason they didn't find a studio to finance Wolf of Wall Street (with the strict Scorsese conditions) and had to rely on independent financing from suspect international mob and government fraudster. Look at Scorsese commercial success rate outside prime DeNiro and DiCaprio after that, it is pretty much only commercial failures, if Wolf of Wall street (an 100M 3hours Rrated affair) isn't really good, it would have probably failed quite a bit, even a good Wolf of Wall Street with an unknown lead could have. The Revenant is arguably as risky has a blockbuster that we can get.
  5. I would not imagine many use it right ? It does look like complete non-sense to make the best movies possibles.
  6. What ! it is such good editing and Oldman, boderline great film imo.
  7. I would heavily suspect that he is continuing has much has he want to be (not sure why to think otherwise)? Was it not just a case of not wanting to recommit to some contract that leave the door open to a very filled and long schedule: https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2302081/marvels-chris-hemsworth-is-taking-a-break-from-acting
  8. They are all robots running on smart Frigidaire and Washing Machine from Russia except proven otherwise.
  9. Hydrogen Gold Account JCS has really a lot of money to buy gold account for is alternate, that must be some first.
  10. Not sure that this is the case for a between 2004 and 2007 release that was the peak of the revenues and safest time in Hollywood history. back in those days a 100m movie with a 125M marketing budget making less than 200m like Open Season: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=openseason06.htm Made a tiny profit, would not surprise me if the bomb was not a massive one, even if the first dollar gross got it costing more 110-115m than 100m. I imagine that is because it was under performing, otherwise it would have played longer and achieved to convince more theater to play it.
  11. What do you mean by blockbuster becoming quite affordable ? What streaming will change about Jim creation standing the test of time versus regular TV ? https://theharrispoll.com/it-may-have-premiered-75-years-ago-but-it-would-appear-that-wind-has-still-got-legs-when-asked-to-name-their-favorite-movie-of-all-time-the-septuagenarian-civil-war-epic-gone-with-the-wind-is-ameri/ 17 year's after release titanic was number 3 of the favorite movie list of american adult (and rising from 2008): 2008 2014 Gone with the Wind 1 1 Star Wars 2 2 Titanic 3 The Godfather 9 4 Lord of the Rings 4 5 The Sound of Music 5 6 Dirty Dancing 7 Wizard of Oz 6 8 It’s a Wonderful Life 9 E.T. 10 It was the number one movie among the 18-37 generation, it has a really realistic shoot to be the Gone With the Wind of it's time and to become the most frequent adults favorite movie in 2050. Is movies are quite old and already quite time tested, Aliens, Titanic & Terminator 1-2 should continue to age really well, when you make it up on that list: http://www.theyshootpictures.com/gf1000_all1000films_table.php, you tend to stay on it for a while.
  12. Comscore after thursday had a good difference between adult (4.5 on 5) and kids (3.5 on 5): ComScore/Screen Engine PostTrak numbers from last night are 4 stars for all audiences with parents liking it more than kids under 12, 4 1/2 to 3 1/2 stars. https://deadline.com/2019/07/the-lion-king-weekend-box-office-july-records-1202648944/ Seem to be working better on those who saw the first one back in the days.
  13. All time seem to start in 1980s , there was massive hype also back in the days that Hollywood and movie were much more popular than now. The opening day of Gone With the Wind (that sold millions of copy before the movie release) was made an state holiday in some place and got days of parades, the premiere looked like this: It apparently drew 1 million visitor to the city. Not sure about Independance Day on the same step than a Force Awaken or Episode 1, those movie broke record by big amount, D-Day opening a monday make it harder to judge too so maybe it is legitimate. But the first days of Phantom it did 28m versus 11.1m for Independence day.
  14. I feel like that a bit of an 70 to mid 2000s sentiment, teens are more and more getting irrelevant to the box office (movie that really need and target them tend to be really low budget now). In 2009 12-17 were 15% of the box office business with 96% being infrequent, frequent or occasional movie goers, the over 25 were 52% of the tickets sold. in 2018 the 12-17 were down to 11% of the box office business and the over 25 were 66% of the tickets sold, 79% of ticket were to adult last year and a lot of the rest were kids in a family type of watch. Feel like Family and Adult audience became key over time.
  15. It is not surprising, look at Will Smith shift from Original to almost pure franchise output and audience is loving it (and allow him to have a Lee movie in the mix): https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000226/ Top Gun 2 is not a particularly easy thing to tackle imo (I imagine it is about the end of the very existence of dog fighting the subject of the first movie), in an commercial / political era for which it is not easy to do either in big budget, if you do not set it in fantasy who to do you take to play the enemy let alone the villain.
  16. If Smith do not get involved it would be very likely that something like Aladdin prequel would be the equivalent of those many direct to video they were making with those property back in the days yes. The Sleeping Beauty is covered by the Maleficent franchise but that is to be released before The Mermaid I think.
  17. I imagine Incredible 2 multi (3.34) is also in play.
  18. Current plan rumor is The Sword in the Stone, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Tink, Rose Red, Prince Charming, Hunchback and if it is still going on Lilo & Stitch, Aladdin prequel with the Genie https://www.radiotimes.com/news/film/2019-07-18/disney-live-action-upcoming-movies/
  19. Probably the concept will not "work" but the very bad into that Technic shot should get fix by then, has of now the quality of the "cats" design are quite uneven.
