  1. Ok ok, might have to bump my $1.3B ww prediction to $1.4B ww In a perfect world this would reclaim the "highest grossing animated film" title from TLK Still no songs though? Even Frozen 1 previewed a song in one of its trailers
  2. When SYFY WIRE asked Dan Lin about making a sequel, possibly a remake of original direct-to-video follow-up Aladdin: The Return of Jafar, he was optimistic. "We’d love to," the producer says. "People clearly loved the movie and watched it multiple times and we get lots of fan letters and people asking us to make Return [of] Jafar, and I can just tell you that we’re in early stages right now, but we’re certainly talking about another movie." "The audience response has really touched us in thinking about where we can go with these stories," he adds, "and we feel like these characters have more adventures in store." https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/aladdin-sequel-early-stages-disney Aladdin producer Dan Lin about the potential of a second Aladdin movie: "If I told you the fans would go crazy. It's just too early for me to reveal. But just know that we're looking at a lot of different source material and it's not going to be based on one singular source, but we're going to take the best of everything that's been done before and create something fresh and new." https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2478016/disneys-possible-aladdin-sequel-will-be-fresh-and-new
  3. Exactly, I don't want Frozen 2 to be seen as a disappointment even if it does well (but not $600M dom or $2B ww) The same thing happened with Age of Ultron Again we gotta stop comparing the Pixar sequels with Frozen 2 FD, I2 and TS4 had that nostalgia factor TS4 can also be seen as the "finale" of a beloved franchise that's 24 years old plus it has the rave reviews from critics (97% on RT) Frozen is merely 6 years old A peak is a peak and Frozen's was just massive It's just hard to see F2 being bigger than that That's what I meant when I mentioned Shrek 3 Those loud noises on the internet seem to pick and choose which popular movies to crap on huh? Never seen any hate towards the Avengers movies or whatever --- Anyway... I guess I had a lot of pent up anger, I gotta stop taking these movies seriously lol That one comment before my post just set me off, my apologies, didn't mean to generalize all of you with "bandwagoners"
  4. People were saying "Frozen fatigue! Overrated Frozen! Olaf short is horrible, franchise fatigue!" Then some cute little trailers come and people are saying "$2B! $600M DOM!!!" Ridiculous People who even hated the first movie are now setting Frozen 2 up for disappointment SMH Just like how y'all were so sure Toy Story 4 was a disappointment and now it has the biggest opening of the franchise, biggest opening for animated films WW, about to pass TS3 domestic and possibly WW
  5. Frozen was Shrek 2, it skipped the cult hit stage of Shrek, it just exploded and peaked with one movie There's not much room to grow, Frozen 2 should be compared to Shrek 3 Shrek 2 also had legs and huge DVD sales for its time, but Shrek 3 didn't outgross it Like Shrek 3, I'm expecting F2 to have the biggest opening...but that's it And I wish people would stop comparing this to I2, that had a 14 year build up of nostalgia and was the only Pixar movie where people actually demanded a sequel Whereas before the trailers came out everyone was crapping on this franchise especially when that long Olaf short film got a lot of hate during Coco's run
  6. The over-predictions in here reminds me of Age of Ultron pre-release It's all hype from the trailers and goodwill of the predecessor Y'all are just setting F2 up to be a disappointment even if it inevitably succeeds
  7. To sum it up: people see Frozen as a "little girls' movie" US and Latin American culture highly emphasize masculinity and this is a movie about not one but two Disney Princesses and "love" By far the "girliest" movie in the top 50 highest grossing of all time list Things loved by young girls usually face backlash and people are proud to hate on them: Titanic, Twilight, Justin Bieber, Frozen It is what it is, humans hate femininity Frozen 2's trailers are all action-oriented and darker colors, darker tone, no singing and romance, more masculine If Elsa and Anna were men, Frozen 1 would've done Incredibles 2 numbers DOM
  8. I'm totally against an Avatar re-release, at least until Avatar 2 comes out I'll lose some respect actually if they re-release it just to reclaim the title (pointless!) just like how I didn't like the rushed Endgame re-release Like I said before, Avatar being #2 means that the bandwagoner haters who crapped on the movie all these years can finally loosen up a bit Had it stayed at #1, people will be more hostile and more repelled from checking out Avatar 2 Obviously it's up to Disney and JC but IMO a double feature for A1/A2 in 2021 would be a better idea than a rushed A1 re-release this year or next year
  9. Scar (Endgame) has finally killed and dethroned Mufasa (Avatar) with a help of a stampede (literally in some theaters) but Simba (Avatar 2) will come to avenge his father and claim the throne
  10. H&S is not a F&F movie though, it's a spin-off like Solo Removing Vin from the equation is like removing $100M from its potential China gross Dom is still the most popular F&F character or else Hobbs would've been the lead in these movies like how Dom took over Brian's lead role (Brian was the lead in the first two F&F movies) But then again maybe that's why they're beefing like immature high schoolers instead of being professional actors Speak for yourself, IX teaser reception, Vanity Fair photos, etc. have been very good I don't even know what that last point is about Out. Will H&S even hit a billion?
  11. I may have overestimated Mulan (thanks a lot Liu Yifei!) and underestimated Black Widow BW and Bond 25 seem like they're gonna rule next year, the peak of spy films coming after the peak of superhero films (2018-2019) perhaps? Minions 2 will also be a spy film, kiddie version (literally with kid Gru)
  12. Zendaya would've pulled it off nicely IMO, oh well The box office is gonna be interesting for this especially internationally Black Ariel, female Scuttle, etc. Disney is taking risks with this Renaissance remake unlike before The more accurate the remake is to the original, the more it becomes successful I'm already seeing a lot of dislikes on YouTube videos that are spreading this news Imagine if the first teaser for this gets Ghostbusters levels of hate/backlash, yikes No matter how much we are ok with a Black Ariel there's still a huge amount of people out there who won't be Remember, no one was angry that the 2019 Genie is black, people were angry when they saw that Will Smith wasn't blue in the first pics released
  13. They also had trouble casting Aladdin, I think he was the last one to be casted As long as she has red hair and a green tail I think people will instantly recognize Ariel The adults are more likely to have issues with a black Ariel than children tbh
  14. Where is that gif of Neytiri as Iron Man having all the infinity stones?
  15. Unpopular opinion but TS4 > TS3 This movie is about purpose, identity and lifelong dreams and what happens when you "lose" those, much more powerful themes for me but I get that the friendship/nostalgia/longing for childhood again themes of TS3 is more digestible for a wider audience This movie is also about empathy, very touching and rare for a blockbuster One of the scenes that stood out for me for some reason was Woody and Bo Peep finding each other again after 9 years, that was so memorable Not to mention the animation was godly What a great way to wrap up this franchise and this decade for Pixar! 4 > 3 > 2 > 1 What a saga! Other unpopular opinions: I2 > The Incredibles Finding Dory > Finding Nemo Add Inside Out and Coco to these and that is why the 2010s might be my favorite decade for Pixar
  16. I mean, the opening scene alone features the manliest Disney song since "I'll Make a Man Out of You"
  17. Becoming the first and only movie ever to claim "biggest movie of all time" because of a re-release is kinda lame (Assuming it happens of course)
