  1. I haven't seen the second trailer, don't know if they'll put it in our cinemas with AMTW, but after seeing the first one, I can say the movie doesn't look Christmas-y at all. I think Hollywood actually forgot how to make a beautiful (by that I mean pretty-looking) Christmas movie. I think Grinch will actually deliver there since it looks stunning in a traditional way, even though it doesn't look funny or interesting. I mean, when you look at, I don't know, Home Alone 1 and 2, you can actually see how a Christmas movie should look like, with all the bright colors, snow, Christmas trees etc. I think that's why those two movies are so popular even now, they're funny, but they also bring you the spirit of the holidays with their look. You can't see that in this movie, it just looks like discount Alice, even though Alice was ugly-looking itself. Such a pity, the story of the Nutcracker hasn't yet been adapted properly, and they spent their time and money doing this.
  2. I really don't understand why everyone is shitting themselves over the marketing campaign. It was the same situation with Spider-Man: Homecoming, everyone thought it would be Iron Man 3.5 just because Sony tried to sell the movie to a wider audience. Same thing here, Disney is just trying to attract people that wouldn't necessarily see a Wreck-It-Ralph movie, but would see a movie featuring Disney princesses, Star Wars and Marvel characters. That doesn't mean all we'll get is product placement. I bet all those princesses will be there for max 10 minutes. Again, look at SM:H. It's called marketing, people, calm your tits already.
  3. I'm still pissed this isn't an animated film. Also, will be interesting to see how they handle Freeman.
  4. Those kids are the definition of stupidity combined with vanity. Just disturbing.
  5. Hmm, this one puzzled me, I'm not quite sure what it's meant to be, maybe it represents Earth's efforts (climate change, shifts between warm and cold ages through history) to avoid, or at least slow down, its own inevitable destruction.
  6. I totally loved the idea of this film, but I do believe it could've been handled slightly better than it was, Black Swan totally pulled that off, even though mother! still ended up being an excellent piece of filmmaking. Also, it totally deserved that F CinemaScore, Paramount should not have marketed it as a horror movie, which, I believe, ended up hurting the movie in the long run. No worries, don't we all get excited about movies featuring cannibalism?
  7. Seen this one today and I can say, it was quite intriguing, if not a little bit "obvious". If you're making an allegory, your point should be more concealed than how it was handled in this movie, the message was all over the place. Also, all the characters with the exception of Mother were so annoying, I just waited the whole movie for her to lose her shit and kill them all. Talking about Mother, JLaw should get an Oscar nom for sure, this was her one of her finest performances yet.
  8. Honestly, this movie is such a bullshit move from Disney. Everyone generally knows about The Nutcracker, but the story itself is not THAT well known (not saying it's unpopular) compared to other fairytales since it doesn't have a particularly good or popular film adaptation (excluding Fantasia). WDAS should've handled this thing, they've proved themselves to be quite good at adapting popular children stories, unlike the creative minds of Maleficent, Oz, Alice and other mediocre live-action fairytales (honestly baffled that Disney is letting a studio to be so careless when it comes to handling of such popular properties). Also, in an animated movie, ballet can be much more naturally implemented, just like songs in a WDAS musical, whereas in live action one would need to find actors and actresses that are also ballet dancers in their free time (good luck with that), so the movie will probably have 2 or 3 minutes of actual dancing, even though The Nutcracker is popular only because of the ballet. To top it all, this shit will be some "dark" retelling akin to Maleficent and Alice, which is idiotic since, again, The Nutcracker has to get a proper interpretation before it can be reimagined and told from a different POV. I can bet they'll make the Sugar Plum Fairy evil or some shit like that. Anyway, this thing will probably be of questionable quality and is likely to underperform due to the strong competition, something that could've been easily avoided. Who knows, maybe the reshoots will help it and it ends up being a hit, but I seriously doubt it...
  9. As I said, you are allowed to have an opinion and you are definitely allowed to express it here, but it just baffles me that you can form an opinion about a movie that you haven't yet seen. It shows that you're biased.
  10. All he ever does is shitting on Marvel movies and praising the "brilliance" of BvS, not just in this thread, but in almost every CBM thread. It's annoying as hell. Even now he calls Thor Ragnarok a bad movie even though he hasn't probably seen it. Same thing happened when Gotg2 and SMH came out. It's okay if you have a different opinion, but it's obvious he is just trolling. Maybe the mods won't ban him since he has some personal problems (which I'm sorry for and wish him all the best), but that's not an excuse to act like a child.
  11. Thought so, but still wanted to ask to be sure. About this whole name-change thing, both names sound pretty lame. "Horse Soldiers" is quite funny when you realise the movie is actually about soldiers on horses, and "12 Strong" just doesn't sound right.
  12. I don't understand, is this supposed to be an-awards contender? 'Cause if it is, I'm happy for Chris Hemsworth, his career is slightly struggling outside of the MCU and this movie would really help him.
  13. To be honest, WW, as a movie, was not much better than those other movies, except for GOTGV2 (which was still quite good). Ares was equally mediocre as Marvel's villains and those two minor villains were just laughable, like something out of a cartoon. However, I do think it deserved its success, just for being bold and going against the odds, it attracted many people that weren't into CBMs to see it because they finally felt represented in that area. I'm proud that it managed to overcome all those negative comments it received before it came out because its success sends hope that we'll see more female-lead CBMs. My personal hope is a Black Widow movie, ScarJo deserves it.
  14. Oooohh, look at this, the DCEU fanboys are triggered. In other news, water is wet.
  15. Does anyone expect to see an Ant-Man movie opening with 166 million dollars!? I think not... However, one would expect that a movie finally uniting two of the most recognisable and beloved superheroes in the history would pass the billion-dollar mark without much effort, but that didn't happen. I wonder if it's because most audiences are just too blatantly stupid to understand the masterpiece that is BvS OR it's the fact that people didn't like it because it was super bad (when it comes to story, character development and pacing)...
  16. I've been following this forum for a couple of months now. I'm not that into discussing since I'm actually too lazy to sign in, but I feel like I know many members of this community based on those couple of months of everyday reading and scrolling through the many dark places of this weird world of movie fanatics. And I must say, there are many fanboys here that spoil the fun for everyone. My opinion is that the DC fanboys are louder when it comes to trashing Marvel movies or even actors and actresses (I find it mindblowing that someone would offend a person's ability to do their job just because they are a part of "the other side"), but the Marvel fanboys are not far behind. In this whole Justice League thread thing, I stand with @iJackSparrow, what he initially wrote wasn't offensive or anything like that, if someone didn't like it, they could've just laughed at it or simply ignore it, but you don't call someone a cancer just because he writes something you don't like, especially if that person had lost someone to the illness. It's mean and unnecessary. So people, get real, these are movies made by giant corporations, they don't care if you like them or offend other people on Internet for them, they only care for your money, so turn down the mindless arguments, as I'm in a different time zone than most of you and I don't feel like reading through endless pages of bit*hing every time I come home. That's all from me for a couple of months. P.S. You can enjoy something even if other people don't like it. It's true, just ask The Divergent Series' all three fans.
  17. Yaaay, WW seems to be the first watchable DCEU film. Didn't care for the movie a couple of months ago, but now... Quite interested. This is especially a big win for female directors. I wonder if Patty Jenkins will become one of the leading people behind the DCEU now that her film is looking to be a huge hit. It seems the DCEU is finally pulling itself together, now if only they would rename it to DC Cinematic Universe (Extended doesn't make any sense whatsoever). Anyways, congrats to the WB and DC, and that comes from a hardcore MCU fan. It's time for Marvel to be thrown outside of its comfort zone, they were getting lazy for the past couple of years.
  18. I just have to ask you, how does your constant bashing of MCU and its (very talented) actors and actresses benefit you or the DCEU? Will your determination to present Chris Evans as a bad actor suddenly make BvS a good movie? It's fanboys like you that ruin stuff for us normal people that just want to enjoy a movie with great superheroes that we've known since childhood. I read a lot of comics as a kid, but not superhero comic books, something I regret to this day, and I thought about starting to read them, but I don't know from where to begin. I'm much more into Marvel's characters nowadays, but I heard their comics suck these days, so I might just wait 'til they pull their sh*t together. So basically, all my knowledge of comic book characters comes from movies. I thoroughly enjoyed Superman and Batman's movies (even Batman and Robin) as a kid, and The Dark Knight Trilogy are at the top of my favourite CBMs, but even I have to admit that DCEU pretty much sucks (even the name is stupid), and denial will not fix it. So, instead of trashing people at Marvel for doing their job really well, you can critically think about those movies you glorify as masterpieces, even though I'm convinced that deep inside yourself you are aware that they are not really good.
