Watched it again yesterday and had a much better theatrical experience this time. Better seat, better screen, better edible. Movie holds up fantastically on rewatch, still an A+ Some random thoughts: In the beginning when the Harkonnen soldiers are being sniped on top of the hill and one of them says to use their shields, why does the other soldier say no? Seems like the right move. Both times I watched it, for a brief second I thought the harknonnen bodies lying in the desert were crash test dummies. They're so pale. Stilgar's "of course the Lisan al Gaib is humble!" moment got a big laugh both times. Javier Bardem doing the literal "mind-blown" gesture is so funny. He's great this whole movie. I thought he was underused the first one but I see they had a plan for him. The harvester attack would make a great encounter in a video game. ^How do you not root for this guy in this moment? Austin Butler and Lea Seydoux lowkey have better chemistry than Chalamet and Zendaya Speaking of Chalamet, his performance gets so much better after he drinks the water of life and gets some bass in his voice. I'm so over the whisper talking that's so prevelant now Loved Lady Jessica's villainous turn. Al her scenes using where she uses the voice are so menacing. All in all I'm just obsessed with this movie. I had a similar experience with the first one but this one is even more captivating. I think I'm going to start reading the books, I was on Quora and Reddit finding out more about the story and world and it's really fascinating.

I was being slightly tongue in cheek, I'm just really high on the score. But I don't see why it wouldn't get nominated and have a very good shot at winning outside the aforementioned possibility of being ineligible (which I don't know if it's a real possibility, just wondering). The movie is going to be a major Oscar player and the first one won best score.

I mean according to IMDB this is what he has left for the rest of this year. He's absolutely getting nominated for this, unless there's some bullshit academy rule about too much of the score was already composed for the first one or something.

The CG is the same it just looks better on a big screen compared to a crappy compressed youtube video. People really overreacted to that trailer when it dropped

I'm watching it again Tuesday. I'll be honest, the experience Sunday was a little underwhelming compared to the first one mainly because my seat and screen weren't great (and my edible was a dud), but holy shitballs what a movie, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I'll be watching on a proper IMAX screen and effectively high. THIS TIME WILL BE THE TIME.

I just want to brag that I'm seeing this early this Sunday. There's an early showing at the IMAX near me and there was one aisle seat left in the very last row. Can't fuckin' wait.

Shows how little people pay attention to those categories cause this is the first I'm realizing he got nominated and I'm a big fan of his lol Flower Moon > Oppenheimer > Poor Things > Barbie are all I've seen so far this year, all good movies. I'm watching The Zone of Interest tomorrow Ninja Turtles deserved a nomination, biggest snub.

Sounds awesome

The bathtub and blood scenes genuinely did gross me out so kudos to them for that. Didn't really care for this, idk just kinda lost interest halfway. Anyone else think it was lit really darkly and hard to see at times?
