  1. OUTRAGE TIME Yeah I kinda forgot about the show after it aired. I'm a massive fan of the games and the show is so similar it felt a bit "been there done it but better" to me. Wasn't bad though
  2. Watched this last week and enjoyed it but my favorite part was the couple who walked out immediately after Mark Ruffalo screams "C*NT!" at the top of his lungs to Emma Stone, which is pretty deep into the movie. The animal hybrids were hilarious
  3. 1. Killers of the Flower Moon 2. Godzilla Minus One 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 4. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 5. The Killer 6. Asteroid City 7. The Boy and the Heron 8. Thanksgiving 9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 10. Oppenheimer 11. Evil Dead Rise 12. John Wick: Chapter 4 13. Talk to Me 14. They Cloned Tyrone 15. Barbie 16. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves 17. Poor Things 18. Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar 19. The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart 20. Cobweb 21. Infinity Pool 22. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget 23. Knock at the Cabin 24. V/H/S/85 25. When Evil Lurks My list thus far. There's some high brow stuff I haven't seen yet that I want to. Anatomy of a Fall, Zone of Interest, The Holdovers, Dream Scenario mainly, got some less prestige-y stuff as well to get to.
  4. 16. Puss in Boots 2, The Fabelmans, Cocaine Bear, John Wick 4, Evil Dead Rise, Beau Is Afraid, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Across the Spider-Verse, Asteroid City, Mission Impossible 7, Oppenheimer, Talk to Me, Killers of the Flower Moon, Thanksgiving, Godzilla-1, The Boy and the Heron Godzilla & Guardians were by far my favorite theatrical experiences this year.
  5. I'll be honest this is exactly how I felt about the ending. It felt pretty abrupt but so do most of his endings so that didn't really bother me. This is the least I've "gotten" one of his movies but I still thought it was pretty good. From the time they get to the fantasy world onwards I was having a hard time understanding what the characters motivations were and why certain things were happening. You get an explanation for some of it at the end and more understanding of the boy, but it never really connected with me emotionally. Absolutely loved it on a visual level, by far the most gorgeous film of the year, no question. Oh and the Warawawa scene was incredible.
  6. This was kinda a "journey is more important than the destination" kind of movie for me. The whole movie is pretty cryptic and weird and honestly I'm not sure exactly what the hell was going on (especially in regard to the last act) but god damn if it isn't a gorgeous movie. I was thinking about what the last traditionally animated movie I saw in theaters before this was and realized it might be The Simpsons Movie. Wish there were more of these.
  7. Really enjoyed this. The telling of the story is a bit melodramatic for my tastes, but I did like the story and the characters are interesting which is unusual for these movies. And god damn they just nailed the Godzilla action here. I had a big dumb smile on my face pretty much anytime he was onscreen. When the Godzilla theme was playing during the third act I had chills. Great score overall. Probably the best Godzilla movie I've seen besides the OG.
  8. Yes sold will be there opening weekend. Looks like they're leaning heavily into the fantastical elements which were 100% the best part of the first one.
  9. I don't remember the ear flaps thing so I can't say that bothered me, and yes Billy Crudup's death was incredibly dumb, but other than that and the decision to go the planet in the first place, there weren't any other times I can remember thinking "oh come on that's so stupid," as opposed to Prometheus where it felt like I was thinking that the entire movie. So maybe "fixed" wasn't the right choice of words but it felt like an improvement to me.
  10. I thought Covenant fixed one of the big mistakes from Prometheus, in that the characters aren't making idiotic decisions the entire movie, just some of the movie.
  11. So is it just me or did the reveal not make any fucking sense? The sheriff would've had to have been in two different places at once for a ton of this shit to work. When he kidnaps the two kids at the school, don't they show him standing outside the building at the same time standing watch? Then the whole dinner scene, they show the sheriff at the police station, but he's doing all this shit at the same time somehow? Then he's chasing the girl through the woods, yet somehow ended up in front of her knocked out? WTF?! Other than that it's a good, fun slasher and the kills are super gnarly I just wish there was a bit more logic to the mystery.
  12. The Killers of the Flower Moon weekend thread was just all people being miserable about its box office performance. I know what forum we're on here, but it was a bit of a bummer that hardly anyone could take a moment to appreciate what an amazing film we just got.
  13. If you've got to go piss then get up and go take a piss. I had to twice when I watched this movie, it's fine. I really don't see what the big deal is or why people act like that's what's stopping them from seeing the movie. Yes, you're going to miss part of the movie, that's how it's always worked.
  14. The first I heard of it was when I was at the theater yesterday and saw the poster. Kinda tempted to go, I was basically raised on that movie.
  15. Highly recommend Killers of the Flower Moon to everyone. It's bleak and depressing, the film doesn't shy away from the horrible subject matter, BUT the movie never becomes boring or devolves into pure misery porn. There's a good amount of the dark humor as well that Scorsese's known for as well. I only felt the length in that I had to get up to piss twice but luckily the bathroom was right next to my theater.
  16. I can't get over how fucking good this movie is, I'm still buzzing over it. Only Scorsese can do it like this. It's utterly bleak and the subject matter is horrible, but the movie never becomes a miserable slog thanks to the incredible performances and masterful direction. Lily Gladstone is the heart of the movie, just an incredibly naturalistic and moving performance, but De Niro is incredible playing evil incarnate essentially. I think it's easily one of his best. And what a fantastic and fitting score from Robbie Robertson, RIP. Go watch this movie.
  17. I would've turned this off if it wasn't for Nicolas Cage. He was a great Dracula and deserved a much better movie. There were a couple funny gags and a few fun moments during the fight scenes, but for the most part the comedy felt forced and unfunny and the fight scenes felt overdone and John Wick-lite which seems to be the norm now. The police and gang subplots felt like completely boilerplate action-comedy story elements that weren't interesting at all and made the movie even more frustrating because YOU'VE GOT NICOLAS CAGE AS DRACULA. Just give us more of that. He's fucking great here and gets sidelined by all these underwritten subplots that no one cares about. I was looking forward to this but ended up pretty disappointed.
  18. IMO this is the best piece of music in the movie
  19. I'm not seeing it either. Yorgos Lanthimos' brand of weird seems way more niche to me than Everything Everywhere, Shape of Water, Parasite etc
  20. I watched the unrated version, it's way better, kills are good, bloody fun. I watched the PG-13 kill scenes after and good lord they're lame.
  21. I really liked this. Shyamalan has been on a roll lately. Really tense throughout, great score, cinematography and performances, especially Bautista. The stilted Shyamalan dialogue is pretty minimal although it pops up occasionally ("He likes pancakes") but I don't really mind, honestly the weird lines are just part of the fun of his movies at this point. Third act isn't as strong as the first two but overall a really enjoyable thriller.
