  1. I think the first one had a story that's more immediate, easier to get into. This one has a very long setup, but once they start hopping universes the movie becomes genuinely thrilling. My edible starting kicking in hard during the India sequence and I was just sucked in. The whole thing is such a gorgeously crafted love letter to animation that it's impossible not to love.
  2. Beef is great, last two episodes are spectacular. Very impressed. Watched the first two episodes of I Think You Should Leave last night and was laughing my ass off, the Fred Armisen sketch nearly had me in tears. Other than that all I've watched in the past month is Adventure Time. The new Zelda game has been taking up all my time.
  3. I noticed it at the beginning where Gwen is playing the drums, it was hard to hear what she was saying but felt like it might have been somewhat intentional. Other than that didn't have any problems. I missed a few lines just because of the sheer amount of dialogue and how much is going on onscreen.
  4. Lowkey kinda with him on the Robert Pattison take, someone needs to tell him to stop whisper talking in the next one.
  5. Based on the interviews I read with Raimi I don't think that was his goal. I think he even said something to the effect of he wasn't trying to make a "Sam Raimi" movie, but a great Marvel movie. That said I still think he made a really fun blockbuster and one of the better MCU entries. The ending is basically huge budget Evil Dead
  6. The wait for my copy of the new Zelda to arrive is excruciating... I WANT TO PLAY ZELDA DAMNIT
  7. Yeah I really liked this sequence but it seems like a lot of people's least favorite part of the film. It goes on for a really long time but I found it captivating (also I thought it might be the climax of the movie but there's a lot that comes after). Great review btw. I'm still not sure how much I liked the movie but it stuck with me. The actual experience of watching it was a bit patience-testing to be honest. I kind of have a low boredom threshold, and I feel like the slow pace Aster uses worked better for Midsommar and Hereditary than it did here. One thing I'll say it did really well was capture that dream/nightmare feeling of going from one strange situation to another and not being sure how you got there and why you're there. Also having a goal you're trying to accomplish and the entire world is preventing you from achieving it.
  8. I mean... if you're REALLY not interested in continuing the argument or conversation then you just wouldn't respond lol
  9. Guardians 3 is fuego. The Marvels looks fun, it's a good trailer at least. MCU is comin' back
  10. There were sequences like the Guardians floating around in space, that reminded me of that scene in Suicide Squad with Harley floating around in the squid eyeball. I love seeing huge hollywood dollars thrown at pretty, trippy psychedelic shit. I really, really enjoyed this, I think Marvel's got a big winner with this one. You'll never be able to recapture the surprise and novelty of the first one, but I definitely enjoyed this more than Vol. 2 (which was also good). There's a ton to enjoy here. The beginning with Creep was beautiful and honestly was close to making me cry. Loved the song selection here, again I don't think you'll be able top part 1 in that regard, but definitely better than Vol. 2. Especially for a 90's alt rock kid. Radiohead, Beastie Boys and Flaming Lips? C'mon. Also I used to have a Zune that I loved. It always had a way cooler UI than the iPod. Hallway fight was awesome, top tier MCU action. This movie definitely didn't get the short end of the VFX stick, whole movie just looked great and vibrant. I thought Peter really was about to die in the vacuum of space and thought that was a pretty damn grim way to kill your hero. Cosmo is a very good dog. Evil Gamora is hot. The red receptionist lady too.
  11. Yup that's how Wes Anderson characters talk lol. I'm a big fan of his but sometimes when I watch his movies the speech patterns can take some adjusting to get used to.
  12. In the trailer Scarlett Johansson's character says she does a nude scene... ijs we can dream Somewhat related, god bless Lea Seydoux in The French Dispatch
  13. This was good fun. There's no real standout characters like Ash or what'sername from the 2013 version but it's directed with a lot of style and panache and has a creepy tone throughout. The Shining reference was cool.
  14. I wasn't that into it. Ari Aster's technical filmmaking skill is fully on display here, there are sequences where it really works, some very funny stuff but overall it felt more indulgent and patience-testing than interesting or entertaining.
  15. Bill Hader is killing it this season of Barry, both on camera and off. Started Succession, only five episodes in but enjoying it so far. Rewatching Adventure Time, still a great show. In the home stretch of finishing the Sopranos. I don't have anything to say about this show that hasn't been said before, I just love the show, it's so damn good.
  16. Dr. Strange 2 though... One day the internet will realize how fun that movie is
  17. Honestly watching movies with crowds that hate the movie can be kinda fun. I'm pretty sure I was the only person in my theater who liked Malignant (including my friends). I was pretty drunk so watching everyone get mad at the movie was fun.
