  1. Tight race between Pika and Endgame though both are lower than I expected a week ago. Pika will be fine and have a decent end total though wish it was a breakout hit. Endgame's drop this weekend is disappointing in a vacuum but of course hard to be disappointed in a film that should become No 1 of all time WW. I did expect better legs admittedly but finale factor and some lack of rewatchability from GA is playing a big role. As far as the Infinity War vs Endgame they are two different films trying to accomplish different things. I totally understand how people would like Infinity War more but I definitely think if Endgame was non stop action like Infinity War as a conclusion Endgame would have felt unsatisfying. 3 hour running time is a special case I seriously don't think Disney will be making 3 hour Avengers films as the norm.
  2. Yep easily going to be my most overpredicted film of the year
  3. So Endgame may end up close to Ultron's legs. Again doesn't matter that much when your OW is $357M. Makes me think this may have been way more frontloaded (Civil War or worse levels) had reception had been more tepid. Hope Pika gets into the $60M range but can't see how it gets into the $70M range with that Fri number.
  4. Either Pikachu's momentum peaked too early with that first trailer or maybe it was never destined to be a juggernaut in the first place and we overestimated the impact of that first trailer.
  5. No as in there are plenty of examples of "subversion of expectations" waaaay before TLJ. Idk why TLJ is the one you continue to harp on about.
  6. Hey all good I'll do my part to spread the word of Godzilla in Australia.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if Godzilla has an abnormal high multi due to @Brainbug's contribution to its box office.
  8. Civil War's legs were poor while at worst Endgame's legs will be average.
  9. Basically the same drop as Infinity War had Assuming Thursday is $8.2M (-2.4%) giving Infinity War increases/decreases in 3rd Weekend Fri: $18.9M (+131.8%) Sat: $31.8M (+68.5%) Sun: $22.6M (-28.9%) = $73M (-50.4%) Expect it to be closer to $70M though
  10. Rewatched this film a couple of days ago. Still freaking fantastic with some obvious leaps of logic that I've come to expect from JJ Abrams films. But yes such a shame that the series never really took off box office wise afterwards. Giacchino's Star Trek theme is still fantastic too.
