DCEU will probably outgross the MCU next year

Idk if the MCU can increase its fanbase over in North America but I do think longevity will work in its favour as the fans who were there since the first Avengers as these films are pretty family friendly they'll be able to introduce them to their kids. The MCU also has a hold on all the major expanding markets Overseas so I'll only expect the solo films to increase Overseas even more.

I'm just waiting for the estimates of Captain Marvel's OS Weekend to come in. I still can't wrap my head around the fact it's gonna be around $300M OS. I thought I was being a tad bullish with my $500M OS total for Captain Marvel lol

I'd add Jumanji to the list too. Stood up against a Star Wars movie of all things.

It would have been cool if the synth elements were pushed even more but maybe it would have been too close to Ragnarok's score. Still one of the better MCU scores they've definitely improved in the past couple of year.

Yeah it being Carol's big moment wasn't handled nearly as well as when Immigrant Song was used when Thor unlocked his powers.

I definitely feel Doctor Strange 2 will get a good boost from the first one in large part to his role in Infinity War. I am surprised the gap is gonna be 5 year between films cause it's gonna be the longest wait for a sequel in the MCU. Anyhow with Captain Marvel almost certain to hit $1 Billion I really want Far From Home to do so making 3 $1 Billion films in the same franchise in the same year. Going to be near impossible for any franchise to replicate that.

Justice for Wonder Woman

I didn't expect this to outopen Black Panther in so many of the more traditional markets. Insane OS performance so far.

Imagine saying 10 years ago the superheroes to have their films gross $1 Billion+ would be Batman, Iron Man, Captain America (with some help), Black Panther, Aquaman and now probably Captain Marvel.

I'd actually prefer winning The Ashes in England for once than another WC tbh. Yes Handscomb/Carey should be dropped for Warner. I'd always assume Smith would come in straight away too but if Khawaja keeps his performance up we might not need to rush him back straight away. I think India needs to bring back Chahal. And also probably need to drop the extra batsman. Once again not really convinced by Rayadu. Might also need to give Rohit or Dhawan a break for KL Rahul.

Part of why Captain America: The First Avenger works despite some flaws in the 2nd half is we get to see Steve Rogers before the serum. We know that what makes him special isn't the serum but his character and we are shown not told that. I understand that they felt they had to change up the origin structure for Captain Marvel but in doing so robs Brie Larson the opportunity the show why Carol is strong and powerful even without the powers she is given. There's a bit too much telling and not showing in this film to completely nail the character down.

Every time China and DOM is looming a tad lower than expected OS-China somehow picks up the slack.

How likely is $700M OS?

Yeah we're in a bit of unknown territory as no other origin movie from the MCU has opened this big. So will it play like the other origin movies or more like an MCU sequel? That's gonna be the question for the 2nd Weekend.

Yep same no more excuses to not have more female led superhero films.

I liked Alita more than Captain Marvel but yeah same here.

A shame cause Alita does deserve more love at the box office but the trolls had to pit it against a Marvel movie of all things.

Will it help diagnose why I liked The Dark World over Thor on first viewing?

I've repented from my ways I swear. Actually over the years I've come to appreciate Cap 1 and Thor 1 much more. Mainly cause I understand better how difficult of a sell those films could have been.
