  1. It was independently produced and acquired by Lionsgate after the fact, so I doubt it would have cost that much.
  2. Actually, I have to ask where you read the budget for that. It's being continually stated Lionsgate hasn't released a budget number for it.
  3. I tend to connect differently to action films based in the real world vs. sci-fi/fantasy action films. And John Wick doesn't have any overblown action sequences involving massive explosions or pile-ups on the freeway.
  4. Imagine the WOM on Lucy if it's story was John Wick's story instead.
  5. Even if Wick doesn't make the dollars it deserves at the domestic box office, I anticipate a strong cult following and home video sales, as well as decent international numbers. The budget has got to be much, much lower than 47 Ronin so it should be an easy profit.
  6. Eva Longoria was a producer on this, which I found curious/unusual as the credits were rolling.
  7. What Lies Beneath and Paranormal Activity have utilized Ouija boards, even if they weren't the primary plot. As a Blumhouse fan, curious you don't remember such a thing from the latter film. Nevertheless, an extensive list of films that have utilized/referenced them is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouija#Films As far as judging you on that, I suppose I will remain forever befuddled at your tastes and priorities (i.e. liking TASM2 and not GotG, Blended (which I finally saw and was not impressed by) and not 22JS, etc.). Speaking of priorities, semantically speaking, you claim that both Ouija and Wick are both priorities after I claimed you were giving Ouija priority over Wick, but if you chose to see Ouija first, which I don't know if you did, that by definition means you gave priority to Ouija. Just sayin'.
  8. O. M. G. As someone who's been warped into picking comic book and other franchise films, this is most definitely my favorite action film of the year.
  9. The subject was creepy over a century ago when the game was first introduced. This movie isn't the first thing to utilize Ouija to talk to ghosts. There's a blatant pretension to it. Looking like every other ghost/demonic spirit movie yet acting like it's fresh because the focal point is the board game.
  10. Your priorities are out of whack. Ouija before Wick? Then again, I suppose most people's priorities are out of whack if they let this happen. Buy a ticket to Wick and sneak into Ouija.
  11. What is with some of you people wanting Ouija to win? John Wick deserves to win way more than Ouija.
  12. Close now. Was hoping for higher but John Wick could take the weekend even if it doesn't take Friday.
  13. But doesn't Ouija have more advance sold tickets?
  14. What about walk-up business for Wick? Surely that's gotta pick up at night.
  15. So then Wick needs walk-ups. It can do it. It *must*.
  16. http://deadline.com/2014/10/box-office-ouija-john-wick-st-vincent-859761/ Spatula, do you get your numbers from Rentrak? Or where do they come from?
  17. But John Wick could surprise and take the weekend.
  18. But John Wick is capable of maintaining a lead, yes?
  19. Curious as to what theory you're utilizing for Wick. If it follows the trend of fellow recent October R-rated action release Escape Plan, it could see 30m.
