I had a pretty good, but not strong, feeling from the get go Purge 2 was gonna be more well received than Purge 1 from both critics and audiences, despite opening a bit lower. It took to the streets, which is where a Purge movie should be set.
It is nice that they did at least nominate one new show. But Emmy voters really need to watch, I mean really watch, Big Bang and Modern Family to see just how tiresome they've become.
I know they laughed a lot at the obvious things, which were nevertheless very hilarious, like the Cap's daughter. So it wasn't that dreary an experience.
As am I...
Against my better judgment. The last movie I strongly considered walking out of was Year One with Jack Black. It's pretty tragic that's the last project Harold Ramis did.
I think Variety's numbers are out of whack. They project Earth to Echo to finish fourth behind Tammy after ending up behind Dragon and Jump Street all week? What are the numbers to suggest this?Variety obviously sucks at projections.
TASM2 - too much like a video game
Neighbors - funny, though was hoping for more
Godzilla - underwhelming, though good monster effects
X-Men: DOFP - welcome return to relative former glory
AMWTDITW - very underwhelming
EOT - excellent
22JS - funniest movie I'll see this year probably
TF4 - first headache I ever got watching a movie
Those movies received higher Cinemascores.
I had a hunch it was gonna get that kind of Cinemascore. Like Bad Teacher before it, which got the same score despite bigger box office, it seemed to focus on an unlikable character.
Yes! Nick Stoller's previous two leading ladies Emily Blunt and Rose Byrne together!
I was kinda thinking that the other day that Nick Stoller should direct them headlining a movie together.
She was just cast in some sci-fi comedy from the producers of Neighbors. She seems to be the first person cast, but it's stated her role is as a love interest. Why can't the powers that be rewrite it to make her the lead?
And fortunately audiences are catching on.
The difference between Sandler and McCarthy is that Sandler can't decide who his specific audience is, probably why he's allegedly aiming for everyone.
The only good movie doing not so good is Edge of Tomorrow. There are plenty of worse movies doing worse than that. And I am referring to movies in separate genres. The point being even if it's an apples to oranges comparison, Edge of Tomorrow is still a much fresher fruit.
