  1. I warned @Porthos that this wouldn’t meet his preview/OW thresholds, but nooooo, he wanted to listen to some rando named Shawn. Totally mystifying
  2. It’s not “hogging,” the new theaters decided to play TLK. Most theaters have multiple screens, of course they’ll still dedicate at least one to the wide release withn the 2nd highest PTA this wknd.
  3. Doubt it, but even if that’s true it could still be just a maybe, e.g. if you thought it was: 20% <200 55% 200-300 25% 300+
  4. Marvel Studios isn’t some independent contractor that “usually works for” Disney. They’re literally owned by and 100% a component of The Walt Disney Company. It’s the same as if Sony had WDAS make a HT4 or something.
  5. The real reason they denied Endgame’s extension revealed at last 😮
  6. TA has the crown for over 5 years, then out of the top 5 entirely in less than 2! Disney has been on a tear here recently.
  7. 12:20 ; 16:20 ; projected final CGV ; projected admits (daily delta) EXIT 85 ; 142 ; 218 ; 480k (+22%) TDF 23 ; 39 ; 62 ; 153k (-8%) SLOP2 33 ; 44 ; 49 ; 107k (-7%) TLK 23 ; 31 ; 40 ; 84k (-5%) Aladdin 23 ; 31 ; 42 ; 77k (+18%) Aladdin bumping less than I hoped, but still not that far behind last Friday despite radically increased competition. It’s been exactly even with TLK since 11:20. I think Aladdin will have a better night but worse CGV ratio for a close finish today. I’d like to see Aladdin move up from 5th on Saturday, but we’ll see what the presales have to say about that soon enough.
  8. 1)Frozen 2 Black Widow Onward Soul WW84 Jumanji Mulan Charlie’s Angels Terminator 10)Bird of Prey
  9. And it’s got the Rock, even worse. But don’t worry, Karen Gillan will save it.
  10. Meanwhile Disney are presumably trying to get a CNY blockbuster release date... 😬
  11. GA has already forked over the cash for Captain Marvel, Endgame, Aladdin, Endgame, Toy Story 4, Far From Home and The Lion King this year, and thy’re saving money for F2, Juman3, and Star Wars. Can’t afford to watch any of this B tier stuff
  12. Who are these people that thought “Lion King on OW? Naaaaah. I’ll grab that sucker once the PTA is 80% less.”

  14. SLop had a non Culture Day opening, also during summer break: 182 161 162 243 234 987k 5-day. 2.5M total Based on the Thursday I’d guess a 25-30% decrease for SLOP2, so maybe 1.8M admits (~11$M vs SLOP1 $16M). Still gotta see how the weekend actually goes of course.
  15. Maybe JW3 could do an IW if they had Taika direct it
