I mean, it’s not like he’s some kind of super attractive model type that you sometimes see cast for these lead SH roles. He looks fine but I assume Marvel cast him more for his personality/humor/acting chops/similarity to what they want to do with the character, which is exactly what I want to see out of big casting decisions 👍

If you told someone this would be the case for SLOP2 at the beginning of the year, they would have found it.... extremely believable! But perhaps for the wrong reasons

Last one was about 30% China. So that scenario looks like roughly 25 revenue DOM, 28 OS-C, 6M C for 59, not exactly a disaster but not a clear case of profitability either imo. I’d guess it will be more like 40 DOM+ 80s OS, but we’ll see.

Looks like it’s going to fall about 2/3rd in SK. Wouldn’t be surprised with a 70-50% fall domestically and in the rest of the world. In fact it looks like it came out 2 weekend ago in the UK and will have a 60%ish fall from the first one. The fact that this got greenlit at this budget just baffles me, to be honest.

Nothing spells certain doom for X more than “X poised to become the new Marvel?”

Why would you want to put the sequel to a very well received billion dollar grosser on Disney+ after you had to pay Will Smith for it?

It seems pretty clear that any sequels will be more original script than direct adaptation, drawing from a mix of RoJ, KoT, and the TV series. That’s the best approach imo, and could even lead to some good reviews (not that it needs them, clearly).

Interesting to me that people seem to expect H&S to add about 50M (off a 45M last 7 days), but the TLK to add about 75M off a 40M last 7 days. I dunno if the gap in their holds will actually be that big.

I just realized that if you look at adjusted PTA of true FSS, the record OWs of the 2010s have seen a pretty mild rise from the record OWs of the 1980s. Not too surprising I guess, but that 500M OW is coming sooner than a lot of people realize.
