  1. I just remember that it happened with TDK, and everything I’ve been hearing about this movie makes it sound like it’ll be much edgier than that. Of course, that was 14 years ago, so maybe parents have lightened up since then.
  2. I’m glad the movie is PG-13 (although I knew it was never going to be rated R), but if anything, I’m actually curious if this movie will face some backlash for being too intense for kids.
  3. Sounds like the PG-13 rating is being pushed to its absolute limit. Even TDK had a much more tame MPAA description.
  4. I don’t even think it’s about catharsis. People just want a new Batman movie, because we haven’t had a proper one in 10 years, and after what a mess the DCEU has been, having a Batman with a clean slate feels refreshing. And yes, AQP II does put a hole in this argument that only fun escapist movies can do well in the pandemic. In the case of NWH though, that movie is doing as well as it is because it’s the epitome of fanservice. Sure, it’s a lot darker than the previous Tom Holland movies, but it still goes out of its way to have big crowd cheering moments, just like Endgame.
  5. 9 is PG-13, but that movie bombed. I can’t think of any reason why this movie would require the rating to be bumped up.
  6. Is there any basis for this belief that audiences don’t want to watch “dark” movies during the pandemic?
  7. This doesn’t seem like the kind of movie that would get an A+ on Cinemascore. I’m expecting an A- or something. I just hope it isn’t a B+.
  8. Is 2022 even going to be the comeback year we were hoping for at this point?
  9. At this point, I think I’m more hyped for this movie than I was for any DC film since BvS. I still don’t care for Michael Giacchino’s involvement, but it is what it is.
  10. It should be noted that Snyder didn’t envision the DCEU as an expansive ongoing franchise like the MCU. He had a definitive ending planned. Justice League 3 was supposed to be the final movie in his series, and it would’ve ended in such a way that would’ve required WB to reboot everything after that. Clearly though, WB has long since moved away from that.
  11. I’m sitting here expecting an OW of $90-110 million, and thinking that would be pretty good. It would be cool if it managed to have the biggest OW for a WB film like some are predicting, but I’m trying to keep my expectations in check. Maybe the sequel.
  12. I mean, people are still actively complaining about it as if it’s a big deal?
  13. I don’t even understand the logic behind the stated reason for the move. Sony wants to maintain the larger screens for NWH? The movie will have been on its seventh week by that point. It will have already made most of its money.
  14. If nothing else, these past few weeks have confirmed that WB hasn’t given up on an interconnected universe after all. At this point though, I’m much more interested in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe. I probably would’ve been more interested in this new DCEU if it was clear that we still had a Superman.
  15. What happened in CW was an accident. I’m not holding that against her. It’s her actions in AoU that irk me. She was a willing accomplice to HYDRA, manipulated Tony into creating Ultron, and made the Hulk go on a rampage, without a single shred of remorse. You would think this stuff would’ve been brought up in CW, but they aren’t.
  16. This reminds me of when Sony briefly pushed Let There Be Carnage to October 15th. Remember that?
