  1. What I gather is that the movie is selling good based purely off the sales for today, but the pre-sales for the Tuesday and Wednesday screenings are diluting it somewhat?
  2. After last year’s Academy Awards, a lot of people assumed that Eternals would be a big Oscar contender, and when it became clear that wouldn’t be the case, I guess MCU fans decided to move on to NWH.
  3. Fox? I thought they were done with the entertainment industry?
  4. This is basically half of a movie that hasn’t been made yet. The fact that it got as many nominations as it did is enough of an achievement as it is.
  5. If Drive My Car wins, are people going to be mad like they were when Parasite won?
  6. It’s kind of funny that Spider-Man needed to interact with other heroes to rejuvenate his franchise, while Batman apparently needs to stay away from the rest of the DC universe.
  7. Don’t Look Up is this year’s Bohemian Rhapsody, but with a director who isn’t nearly as controversial.
  8. Heath Ledger’s death did give TDK a boost in terms of publicity, but there was plenty of buzz for it before that. The movie was made largely because WB was impressed by how well Begins performed on DVD, and there was a pretty strong viral marketing campaign in the months before Ledger died. In any case, TDK was a big hit and the most talked about movie of the year, so it firmly cemented that Batman was back in full force at that point.
  9. I wouldn’t go that far. Batman was plenty popular 10 years ago. But yeah, being the first “real” Batman movie in 10 years is likely a big selling point.
  10. Wait, they’re seriously going to roll Tuesday and Wednesday into the opening weekend? You suck, WB… Edit: Ok, so it’s just Tuesday, but that’s still annoying.
  11. I can’t say I understand why NFTs managed to catch on. Are that many people really that stupid?
  12. This will be settled out of court, just like the Scarlett Johansson lawsuit. By the way, on the subject of that Reloaded discussion from the other day, is there any particular reason that movies like Reloaded and Revenge of the Sith were released on Thursdays?
  13. The first one was innovative for its time, even if the designs weren’t very appealing. I’ll agree with that. Unfortunately, Bay wasn’t even trying with the sequels. They’re just a bunch of incoherent nonsense. It took a lot of restraint to not walk out of the theater when I was watching AoE.
  14. Michael Bay’s Transformers films are some of the laziest big budget blockbusters of all time. It’s been a meme that the movies are practically interchangeable and they couldn’t even keep the continuity straight.
