  1. That’s a bit of a flawed comparison, unless you think this movie will make more than NWH. Besides, I didn’t even say that it wouldn’t be a big hit. Just that I can’t imagine it matching the hype that people had for NWH.
  2. Multiverse shenanigans will no doubt be one of the movie’s big selling points, but how effective will that be, now that the novelty is no longer there?
  3. This movie made me willing to watch one more Spider-Man film with Tom Holland, but I think another trilogy is pushing it.
  4. Many of them do appear to be that way, although the one from the NY Post seems pretty scratching, to the point where it compares the movie to Space Jam: A New Legacy, which is weird, because I was under the impression that this movie is meant to be a critique on Hollywood’s obsession with IP’s and nostalgia. In any case, this definitely doesn’t seem like it’ll be seen as a crowd pleaser among the general public. A B Cinemascore wouldn’t surprise me.
  5. Interesting that over 100 reviews have been posted on Rotten Tomatoes, and there’s still no consensus.
  6. I’m pretty confident right now in assuming that Robert Pattinson’s Batman won’t be meeting Superman or Wonder Woman, especially after what Dylan Clark recently said.
  7. The Harry Osborn of the Raimi universe was probably never on the cards, on the count of James Franco’s controversies. Still, it would’ve made more sense for Dane DeHaan’s Harry to be in this movie over Electro, since he actually found out that Peter is Spider-Man, but that would’ve left us with two Green Goblins, so I can see why they didn’t do that.
  8. Interesting that DC movies are once again trying to be interconnected. Many of us were certain they had given up on that.
  9. These Thursday night numbers are undeniably massive, although comparing them to TFA and EG might be a bit skewed, as screenings for those movies started at 7:00 PM and 6:00 PM respectively.
  10. Wait, it just occurred to me that this movie acts like it was common knowledge in the Raimi universe that Norman Osborn was the Green Goblin. That seems like a bit of an oopsie on the part of the writers.
  11. Actually, now that I think about it, I have a few other things to bring up. Once again, there is still no acknowledgement of Uncle Ben in the MCU. Maguire and Garfield’s Spider-Men explicitly mention their Bens, but we get nothing from Holland. Furthermore, I would’ve thought that Aunt May’s gravestone would be next to his, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Is it fair at this point to assume that the MCU Peter Parker never had an Uncle Ben? Also, this movie seems to confirm that Oscorp doesn’t exist in the MCU. Does that officially rule out the odds of seeing a proper MCU version of the Green Goblin?
  12. If nothing else, these reactions seem to at least confirm that this isn’t a TFA-style retread.
  13. If they’re doing test screenings this early, then they might as well have this and Aquaman 2 swap release dates. This movie could at least potentially serve as decent counterprogramming.
  14. So, why exactly were Electro and Tom Hardy’s Venom transported to the MCU? They didn’t know that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. In fact, they didn’t even know Peter Parker at all. If anything, it seems like it would’ve made more sense for Topher Grace’s Venom to be transported. Also, as a side note, it would’ve been neat if they brought up the fact that Doctor Strange supposedly exists as a fictional character in Tobey Maguire’s universe. By the way, I definitely heard a brief snippet of the Electro theme when we first see him, but none of the chanting.
  15. The holidays are usually a prime month for counterprogramming. It worked out pretty well for the Jumanji sequels.
  16. DC already has a multiverse movie with multiple Batmen coming out in 2022, although Keaton and Affleck’s are the only ones confirmed at this stage. This movie just needs to be well received and it should do fine, although people should still keep expectations in check.
  17. I saw EG on Saturday during OW, so I don’t think my crowd was especially rowdy, but I do recall there being some cheers. People also cheered during the Marvel Studios logo when I saw IW, which was weird. Anyway, I’m seeing this tomorrow, so I guess I’m gonna have to prepare myself for a wild crowd.
