The Batman has generated the most online buzz I’ve seen for a DC movie since 2016, and both of the DC movies released that year had a fair amount of skepticism and controversy. Meanwhile, people keep talking about how great The Batman is and how confident WB is about it. I know the landscape for cinema has changed significantly since 2016, but I stand by my belief that $120 million OW should be the absolute bare minimum. -

It honestly should be. BW made $80 million OW while being available on Disney+, and that movie didn’t have ridiculously inflated “preview” screenings. There is no excuse for this movie to not open significantly higher than that. And why are people just assuming that walk-ups won’t be good? Uncharted and Dog both blew past expectations based on pre-sales. -

I was hoping for a smaller movie after Tenet, but it looks like that’s not happening.

For the most part, I think we should steer clear of villains that were used in the TDK Trilogy.

Johnny Depp as Grindelwald was nowhere near as iconic or beloved as either of those performances.

There was a period in the early to mid 2010s when it seemed like it was cool to dunk on Anne Hathaway. Most people seemed fine with her Catwoman, though. I suppose she never managed to be as iconic as Michelle Pfiefer, but the movie doesn’t focus on her as much, and her performance is more subdued in general.

Has anyone else heard the rumor that this movie might not get any test screenings, because WB wants to avoid spoilers as much as possible?

I’m sure a lot of people are expecting/hoping that the third movie has Shadow, but I’d much prefer they go with Metal Sonic. Maybe they can throw in Amy Rose while they’re at it. Based on what we’ve seen from Knuckles, I think Shadow would be redundant.

I don’t understand why anyone at this point would use JL as proof that Batman has lost his mojo when Joker exists.

If Encanto managed to get released in China, that would suggest that the Chinese government’s beef is specifically with Marvel, rather than Disney as a whole. Maybe things will change in 10 months, but as of this moment, there’s no reason to assume that this movie would get banned in China.
