WB is certainly confident in the quality of this movie. I also haven’t heard anything about bad test screenings for this like with WW84, although I’m not sure how many test screenings this movie could’ve realistically had during the pandemic. As I said before, I’m sure the critics on Rotten Tomatoes will respond well to this movie. I’m just not sure if that’s going to be enough the save the movie at the box office. The hype seems pretty muted for this.

I wouldn’t expect a trailer until FanDome, which is in October.

Yeah, I was referring specifically to the book, but my point is that since the film is based on the book, it can’t really be grouped in with something like A New Legacy, which really is just a cynical excuse for WB to show off their IP’s.

The key difference is that RPO wasn’t made so a particular studio could flex how many IP’s it owns. It was made by some guy who happens to be a big pop culture fanboy.

RPO is based on a novel that entirely revolves around pop culture references. Putting it in the same boat as this or Wreck it Ralph 2 isn’t really fair.

Looks like critics aren’t liking this. I’m not surprised, but those first couple of reviews that Rotten Tomatoes posted threw me off for a bit.

Social media reactions don’t seem to mean much. What this movie will need more than anything is good word of mouth from general audiences.

It was alright. Pretty much inline with what I was expecting. It would’ve been nice if the movie were a little smaller. The climax was a fairly typical superhero climax, but Florence Pugh is pretty good. -

I’m not expecting this to do very well at the box office, but I’m sure critics will like it. I already thought this movie had an uphill battle when BoP flopped. No way it would’ve opened to $100 million, even under normal circumstances.

If they’re really not going to bother trying to course correct, what was even the point of bringing in the guy who wrote the Harry Potter movies and pushing the movie back by a year?

I always thought it seemed somewhat anti-climactic that the first post-‘Infinity Saga’ Marvel movie takes place before IW, but we’ve already had three Marvel shows on Disney+ that deal with the aftermath of EG, so I guess it’s not a huge deal. It still makes this movie seem a bit inconsequential, though. I know it’s supposed to introduce us to the new Black Widow, but in terms of being the first film of Phase 4, that seems a little underwhelming. -
Did the plot of EG really leak a year before it was released? That sounds absurd. Even TFA and TRoS didn’t have their plots leak until around four months in advance.

Was this all filmed in a soundstage? It doesn’t seem like a single set photo leaked.
