  1. I’m just going to point out that the movie is back down to 60%, but the latest review is from a certain website that I’ve already established I don’t think should be on Rotten Tomatoes. Not that it makes a difference. Just thought I’d point that out before anyone else.
  2. It’s interesting that we got a full blown teaser for The Batman (a movie they only filmed 25% of at the time) at Fandome, but only a character promo and behind the scenes featurette for this, even though it finished filming back in February.
  3. I’ll say this, while TFA was the biggest hit of 2015, JW was the most surprising. That one really did come out of nowhere.
  4. 2015 was definitely the year of Star Wars. Seriously, Star Wars was everywhere that year, especially in the final months leading up to TFA. Regardless of how the sequel trilogy ended up, TFA’s record as the biggest domestic release of all time is extremely unlikely to be surpassed anytime soon, so you have to give it that.
  5. Just came by to look at this thread while I’m waiting for the New Year. I see you guys are having an...interesting back and forth. Carry on.
  6. Casablanca is higher on the “sacred piece of film history” ladder than TLK, at least when it comes to movie buffs. It also doesn’t have the commercial appeal of TLK.
  7. Walter Hamada has already stated that they’re doing two separate Batman franchises concurrently, with one being the Matt Reeves universe, and the other being the DCEU. I personally think it’s a dumb idea, but dumb ideas are nothing new.
  8. Humans polluting the ocean is implied to just be an excuse on Orm’s part. The movie suggests that the real reason Orm despises the surface world is because he blames it for taking his mother away from him. The fact that he agrees to surrender after learning that she’s alive seems to support that idea.
  9. CinemaSins is also still around. Neither of them seem to be getting as much views these days, though.
  10. TSS will probably do well with critics, but even if it weren’t going straight to Max, I can’t see it having been that big a hit at box office.
  11. I’m pretty sure the rights to Middle Earth are currently with Amazon, but there is supposed to be a GoT prequel show on HBO Max in 2022.
  12. I’m fairly certain I got the point you’re trying to make. You’re saying that because the Joker wasn’t the star of SS, that means that the negative response to his portrayal would’ve had no impact on Joker. I’m simply saying that I disagree.
  13. The amount of screen time he received doesn’t seem all that relevant. He was still one of the most talked about parts of the movie, and not in a good way.
  14. Jared Leto’s Joker was heavily pushed in the marketing for SS, and his performance ended up being widely mocked and hated.
  15. They really should’ve stopped to consider the implications of it, though. Diana consummating her relationship with Steve, while he’s hijacking a stranger’s consciousness, is an extremely questionable thing to do. Because of this movie, “Wonder Woman is a rapist” is now a thing people can say, which is all kinds of wrong, especially as a role model to young girls. What’s more, Diana and Steve never even express concern for the guy who Steve inhabits. The only reason the writing gives for why Diana needs to renounce her wish is because she needs to be at full power in order to stop Maxwell Lord. There’s really no reason why the movie couldn’t have simply had Steve magically appear out of thin air.
  16. I would’ve thought that the fourth Matrix movie would be a strong release from a financial perspective. I mean, Keanu Reeves is big right now, and nostalgic revivals have been all the rage in the past five years. At the very least, are they confident enough in The Batman (which is now being released in 2022) to not dump it to streaming?
