  1. Wait, he’s been talking about this movie being bad for three years? It hadn’t even started filming three years ago. Now I’m just thinking back to what things were like in 2017, and it feels like it was at least 10 years ago.
  2. I just wish we could go more than one DC film without this whole routine. It seems like the only one in the last decade that’s managed to avoid the “is it bad?” panic is Shazam!, and even then, people were freaking out about its box office performance.
  3. Trying to predict percentages on Rotten Tomatoes at this point is a complete crapshoot. Pretty much everyone with a blog and/or a YouTube channel is a certified critic on that website nowadays.
  4. Is it worth bringing up that ViewerAnon has a hot take about the early responses to this movie?
  5. The CW shows started off as fairly decent for network television, but at this point, they’re basically just Power Rangers with a bigger budget. Silliness and camp is fine for superheroes, but the shows are trying too hard to be like the MCU, which doesn’t work when you have a network TV budget. They also have absolutely no subtlety whatsoever. I’m not even sure who still watches them.
  6. Out of all of the WB movies being released next year, this seems like the one that would’ve had the most financial potential, yet they’re just throwing that away?
  7. Disney has had to deal with a lot of bad PR in the past year. Remember the fiascos with Mulan? I think they’re going to ride this one out under the assumption that people will forget about it soon. Of course, that’s assuming Wright keeps quiet.
  8. I don’t understand how they could’ve done this without Legendary’s permission. Legendary are the ones who have a majority stake in GvK and Dune.
  9. I don’t think this is something Disney will particularly care about, but I’m sure Wright has just gained some fans to at least partially compensate for the ones she lost.
  10. The problem is that once this becomes the new normal, how are they supposed to go back to the old model ever again?
  11. If this movie doesn’t go straight to HBO Max, I might consider watching it multiple times in theaters.
  12. I would hope that antitrust laws would prevent Disney from ever buying out anything ever again.
  13. In terms of their library, they do have enough to rival Disney, but in terms of how big they are as a brand, there’s simply no comparison. Disney is a household name that is home to Walt Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and as of 2019, The Simpsons. Sure, Warner Media owns plenty of beloved classics, but in terms of big money-making properties with wide appeal, no studio can beat Disney. At the very least, I’ll say this much, at least WB/HBO is a bigger brand name than Paramount. Seriously, ‘Paramount+’? That is just plain ridiculous.
  14. All these streaming services are a clear example of the hubris of these studios. Because Netflix has been so successful, every other company has been trying to get a piece of the pie, and they’ve been operating under the odd assumption that they have enough of a name for themselves to justify these endeavors. At the very least, as much as I don’t like Disney, they are perhaps the one studio who has the brand recognition to justify their own streaming service, but the same can’t be said for WB. Unfortunately, AT&T doesn’t seem to get the memo. They’re trying to throw everything they can in order to keep HBO Max afloat. With that said, I didn’t think they’d be this desperate.
  15. I’m assuming that AT&T has officially killed WB’s working relationship with Christopher Nolan.
  16. If Kevin Feige insists on a theatrical release, I’m not sure if even Disney would be willing to say no to him.
  17. This was apparently a decision from the higher ups at AT&T. They’re desperately trying to stop HBO Max from sinking.
  18. AT&T is putting all their eggs in the basket of a streaming service that didn’t even need to exist in the first place.
