  1. It’s painfully obvious by now that Gunn isn’t keeping Gal Gadot, especially with her recent comments, and it’s been apparent for quite a while now that Aquaman 2 will be Jason Momoa’s last time as that particular character, and that he’ll likely be Lobo in the DCU. Let’s not beat around the bush here. Gunn has his own vision for his DCU, and it doesn’t involve anything from the previous universe, except for the projects that he was personally responsible for. By the way, for all the people who say that the failure of The Flash is definitive proof that a reboot is the only way to go, there might be some truth to that, but the movie’s failure was partially self-inflicted. More people would’ve gone to see it on OW if it weren’t part of a dead universe. At this point, I’m almost convinced that Gunn announced Andy Muschietti for BatB last Thursday because he was aware of this.
  2. Black Adam is currently the highest grossing DCEU film since Aquaman, and a Flash movie that has multiple Batmen is unlikely to surpass it, despite having the benefit of China. I feel like that should count for something. I can’t say a Black Adam vs. Superman film would’ve excited me much though.
  3. If anything is likely to confuse people, it’s that the DCU is supposedly still going to retain elements of the DCEU, namely the stuff that James Gunn had already made for it. As long as they don’t shove Amanda Waller or Emilia Harcourt into this, that shouldn’t impact it.
  4. Inside ‘The Flash’ Ending and That Cameo Secretly Filmed 6 Months Ago Spoilers for The Flash for anyone who cares.
  5. I learned about the ending with Clooney a few weeks ago, but now that I can safely talk about it, I’ll just go ahead and say that I don’t understand the point of it. The initial ending they shot would’ve revealed that Keaton and Calle are now part of the main DCEU timeline. I know that scene was meant to establish the new status quo moving forward, which is moot now, but at least that ending would’ve given some kind of closure for those two. Did they really decide to end the movie on a joke, just to ensure that no one would want another movie from this universe?
  6. There’s no evidence that BvS had any lingering effect on the public perception of DC as a brand. It doesn’t seem to have hurt Batman’s popularity. Hell, Black Adam saw a noticeable boost in pre-sales in its final week based solely off the news that Henry Cavill was in it. It still flopped, but it made more at the box office than it had any right to. In any case, the DCEU is officially dead, so I can only hope people won’t continue to blame Snyder if (remember, I said if) Superman: Legacy makes less than GotG.
  7. I’ve said this before, but again, WW and AM managed to be breakout hits, and even the first Suicide Squad did really well, despite awful reviews, and having immediately followed BvS. Snyder left back in 2017. He had nothing to do with the creative decisions made during Walter Hamada’s tenure. You can’t keep using him as a convenient scapegoat.
  8. If this does as well as the tracking is suggesting, then Nolan will cement himself as his own brand.
  9. I don’t know if it “counts,” but Joker 2 is currently set to come out in October of next year.
  10. In retrospect, the fact that WB was simultaneously hyping this thing up like crazy, even though most of us knew it wasn’t going to matter to the future of the DCU, should’ve been a clear sign that they didn’t think it was all that. If the movie really was that great, why would Gunn just ignore it?
  11. I’ve always been of the opinion that Dreamworks pretty much killed the G rating. The first Shrek movie was a big hit that had the kind of crude and edgy humor you wouldn’t typically see in a Disney animated film, and everyone tried to copy it, to the point where they began to avoid the G rating like a plague.
  12. This movie’s legs seem fine to me. It’s looking to finish with around $300 million.
  13. I could’ve seen them moving this to December 2024 if Thunderbolts hadn’t already claimed that date. Evidently, Disney didn’t want to have to sit out two December’s in a row. Maybe it can move to November?
