  1. Ya know, when I first heard the rumor this summer, I thought it was cool, but a little out of place. Then I started becoming more excited. But still thought it was slightly out of place. When this popped up, I was slightly disappointed, but then thought "eh-ya know what, it's too much too fast". Again, I thought it was a bit out of place so it's probably good to have dropped it. One of the best things about the first BP (well among the other "best" things) is that it works completely as its own entity and franchise.
  2. Well, to be completely fair, how many of the types of films with noms in the past 20 years actually have sequels at all?
  3. Most reactions (not a spoiler because it's common knowledge now) say that the sadness and grief of Chadwick's passing is hit hard in the beginning and then they move on with the movie. However, his loss/inspiration is alluded to during the film. But viewers were also saying, publicly, that there are other sad parts. Having seen spoilers during the summer, I know what they are alluding to, but it is part of the plot and motivation for other characters to rise up so there is (and the word has been used many times by early viewers) quite a bit of catharsis. Both Endgame and No Way Home really hit the feels for obvious reasons. But, yeah, their loss was only within the movie. Sadness met with inspiration and uplifting catharsis as a response is usually a good thing, eh?
  4. The question is whether "it is sad, sad, sad" will actually be a good thing for box office. Sure, emotional and powerful sound great, but is it TOO much for people to want to repeat view. To get a good multiplier, it will NEED repeat viewings.
  5. Hoping for something like $30m(Thur) $60m(Fri)-elevated due to Veterans Day $60m(Sat)-pretty much flat from Friday $45m(Sun)-drop of course, but better hold than normal due to hopefully good WOM $195 m OW
  6. Surprised we haven't heard or seen any stories about BPWF's presales numbers. I remember all the hoopla about how BP1's numbers were crushing every superhero movie. For WF....zippo.
  7. So, FTR, no human can hold their breath for over 2 minutes unless MAYBE Navy seals or professional divers, etc. MAYBE Kate and Zoe could do it for a minute tops. But then again, die-hard Avatar and Cameron fans have held THEIR breath for 13 years!
  8. Ummmmm.......seriously? Is that what those numbers are really about?
  9. Just curious....why do you all think Denver is tracking lower for WF than Sac and Philly?
  10. I'm predicting more Shang Chi. But then again, they were similar. But I dunno, the reactions have really been pretty great. They are better than I would ever have expected, especially coming off of 3 of the last 4 MCU films. Not sure what to think of this "Reylo" comment about Shuri and Namor. That's......odd and enigmatic. What strikes me as odd also is that we haven't heard anything about Lupita or Winston-or even Denai, three huge fan favorites from the first one.
  11. So I guess a big question is whether "emotional", "heartbreaking", and even "sad" equate to good? Powerful, yes, but the other adjectives?
  12. Every positive reaction (which seems like 95+% of them) needs to be coupled with the fact that this movie had a shorter post-production period than almost all big budget films and was consistently interrupted by setbacks such as COVID-19. To me, that makes the praise look even better.
  13. Do they ever? I know RT has a huge impact, but do social media reviews?
  14. Calling the reactions (thus far) "mixed" is trolling. Period. Have people actually read them? There are a small few that were not glowing. Most are through the roof. None say it was bad in any way, shape or form. And I am not exaggerating.
