  1. a 2.8X is not far fetched at all if it has good weekend holds until Avatar and then also has decent mid-week numbers during Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years holidays. People talk about the movie being sad. Sure this will hit on a real-life nerve. But remember Infinity War, End Game, and NWH had their share of sadness as well.
  2. There were a couple of "best MCU ever" but the overall consensus is "best MCU in phase 4" equating to best since at least Endgame. Heavy on emotion (we knew that-good to see it's been officially noted). Great acting (nice to see). Maybe a tad bit long (okay). Visually stunning (blah blah blah) Good story (we've seen that several times if not on most-that's the most promising). Best credit scene ever (intriguing-gonna try VERY hard not to spoil myself). I'd be more curious as to its comparison to Shang Chi than to NWH. Seems like it blows past MoM and ThLT which we already assumed. Not expecting the best MCU ever but it could rank top 5. The best 3 IMHO are BP, IM1, and EG.
  3. I would say the reactions are extremely positive and some were outright superior (best MCU since Endgame, making it better than SC and NWH?). Scratching my head at the dude who said it's not even the best MCU of the year. WTF? That puts it below DSMoM and/or THLT? Whatever dude! Mendelson is always an enigma. He sometimes makes no sense at all. What did Scott say about NWH and Engame? First BP? I predict the RT score to be at least 85% and probably on par with Shang Chi in the 90-ish range. So we'll go with 85-92.
  4. When do they actually go in and see the movie? They're telling people to buy tickets and bring everyone they know. lol
  5. Call me obsessive and call me naive, but if I wrote and directed a well-received, financially successful movie and came back to direct the sequel, I would be aggressively insistent on either writing, co-writing, or making damn sure whoever does write stays within my vision. Coogler holds this project and this universe close to his heart. He also holds Chadwick close to his heart. Whatever he puts into this movie will have come from this. If that shows, it will be well received. @JeightNo, not saying that under 90 is mediocre (IW got under 90). But as far as reading anything from social media, anything other than "this is the best" and "this is the worst" can go either way and are inconclusive. However, there are some catch phrases that are common among those movies that ended up being "meh".
  6. Does that matter? Okay, so, my bad. Social reactions (unless they say the movie is horrible) don't mean anything. They certainly won't affect the box office.
  7. For social reactions, I guess we look for key words to figure out the overall feeling. Words like "visually stunning" and "different from other films" or "lots of humor" or "darker than I'd expect" and of course "that's not necessarily a bad thing" are red flags usually. Also, words like "competent" and "I applaud the effort based on the obstacles" can be warning signs. And of course there's the dreaded " very dense plot" or "lots to unpack" and not good signs. If things like these are mentioned, they can often equate rough reviews. Look at reviews for Eternals, Love and Thunder and even MoM and Black Widow to see what social reactions for movies with mediocre-to-bad reviews look like. (that's when the mentioned are the highlights of the reactions). This is not even discussing Venom LTBC or Morbius. Meanwhile, "the best MCU of phase 4" or "this delivers big time" or "emotionally stirring" can mean it will also have strong reviews. Look back at the reviews for Infinity War, Endgame, Black Panther 1, No Way Home, and Shang Chi for examples. You'd think the world was saved through these movies!
  8. I think that is quite possibly why the movie had such appeal to everyone. I've said many times that BP could have been a movie in any franchise or just its own and it could have worked just as well.
  9. First trailer-got people all emotional and raving Second trailer-not quite as much Third (the 45 second trailer last week) was gimmicky without any emotion. There was definitely something way off about that one. Things have been waning, but let's see what is said about it tomorrow so we can endlessly read between the lines and over-analyze the comments.
  10. Well, lol, we should hope it blows past the tepic $145 million OW of ThLT. A 6X IM from a $27 million preview would give it $162 m OW. That, in all honesty, would be rather anemic. Hoping for at least $30 m in previews. Does it have a decent chance at this?
  11. Wouldn't Philly (large city) and Sacramento (medium city) together make up a good sample of what the country would look like? And wouldn't chains like Harkins, Marcus, and Megaplex pale in comparison to chains like AMC, Regal, and Cinemark (MC1 I presume). And also, wouldn't the greater Philly and Sacramento area include sales from all chains in those cities? The only actual cities we get are Philly, Sacramento, and Denver.
  12. How is BPWF pacing lower than ThorLT but all the comps are (albeit slightly) higher?
  13. I thought the embargo lifts tomorrow night (Tuesday). Thing about the social media embargo is that unless people say a movie is really great or really bad, you have to read between the lines.
  14. Big fun crazy wild! Gotta love it! I guess they released today to avoid the BPWF talk that will dominate starting tomorrow night.
  15. Yeahs sounds right. The way these idiots talk about women (add Justin Is Lost to that), you have to wonder if any of them ever get dates.
  16. Anyone heard of "Valliant Renegade" on Youtube? The guys seems like a big time racist and sexist. He's seeming to build the same anti-BPWF campaign that we saw with Rings of Power. And those on his channel making comments are worse. Be prepared!
  17. 28-33 million seems to be a consistent overall average comp for BPWF in larger venues. Can we suspect the previews will be in that range?
