From Albert Brooks's Twitter - Just got back from the mall. Told Santa what I wanted. He said he didn't even know what SAG was, let alone how to punish it.

*shrug* unless it somehow gets amazing box office I think it'll be difficult for Extremely Loud to regain buzz.
Also just watched The Help again... that would really be in my top 5 of the year if they had cut out the "shit pie" stuff. Film doesn't get enough credit for how good it is.
Not really, or maybe I'm just used to it idk. Helps pad it out if there's 3 people, how it works in the UK is that someone would go on Wednesday leaving just two for the last show.
DH2 doesn't work as a stand alone movie AT ALL. Since the franchise doesn't have many fans in the academy they'd sit down to watch it and totally not get it. Return of the King was way easier to get for non fans. Totally understandable why it's not getting any attention.
Indeed, this is how UK xf has worked for years, semi final no longer goes to judges vote and 3 acts in the final. I think Marcus is surely out, though I wish it was melanie because of how incredibly boring she is.

I have seen 80 movies released theatrically in the US in 2011. I'm pretty sure that's the most movies from a single year I've ever seen. And I still want to see more.
I for one loves Ides as much as the HFPA do so I'm pleased and surprised to see it make a good showing here. + nods for Tilda Swinton, Hugo, The Help, Gosling x2, 50/50, Kristen Wiig,... There's a couple snubs in there but overall I'm VERY pleased with the way it turned out.
So, I'm thinking Leo makes it in over Oldman now *grumpyface*Although you never know! Bardem only got a BAFTA nomination before his Oscar nomination and Tinker Tailor is surely going to get much love from bafta. Academy also has a lot more British voters than other groups.
