Dropping my BO predictions a bit, much worse date. More crowded. What is WB thinking? They've already been marketing it and have 6+ weeks of EXCLUSIVE IMAX!!!
I'm guilty of it too but the aura around the auteur director does tend to make other masters like Curtiz less known. It's a shame too bc I think someone able to disappear fully into their films, pumping them out like crazy and them being good is just as impressive.
The reviews aren't good enough for a big late jump to get this to sequel territory. It seems the movies fine, has its moments but is still ultimately just another CBM...which audiences have far less patience for now. Needed to be truly unique and special to pierce the low interest.
I strongly suspect this is gonna be typical late style (artsy) Mann with marketing that attracts people expecting a typically thrilling racing biopic and get shocked by something entirely else.
I'm a big fan of Ridley's historical epics usually but I'm not overly hyped for this. I agree with everyone else, Joaquin is horrifically miscast and trying to condense his whole life into this is a recipe for disaster.
Incoming directors cut saves Ridley's film lol
Yeah 7 is funny bad at least (which I can't say for Jigsaw or Spiral) but it totally drops the ball on the cliffhanger from 6. They built up the most insanely convoluted soap opera storyline and just didn't do anything with it in its finale.
Well, this Indy film cost $300m and looks awful visually, not a single good set piece. Verbinski's would've been a flop at that budget too but at least it would've LOOKED like $300m!
Idk I was a kid in 2008 and Indy was super popular at my school at least, they did a great job bringing 1-3 back ahead of 4 and getting people into it with games, lego, toys, tie ins, etc. Was seen as analogous to SW bc of the Lucas connection.
