  1. Nvm this is now my most hyped film for the rest of the year (i've been watching this trailer on repeat throughout the day, at least 10 times now ha). GOD Woo
  2. TFW the fans have been correct all along...took critics 20 years to get it 😪
  3. And yet 7 still has a cliffhanger set up for a potential 8th while also torpedoing the series' goodwill with fans lol
  4. Really good! Top 3 Saw film next to 6 and 1 for sure. Felt like a proper Saw film again (which Jigsaw and Spiral lacked) but was also entirely different than any other entry. Much more of a character drama but it doesn't skimp on the traps either so don't worry about this being "elevated Saw". I'd say this is newcomer friendly and fairly standalone but I would recommend watching 1 and 2 at least beforehand. Also STAY for the credits!
  5. I think if the films came out today. 1 and maybe 2/6 would've gotten fresh. But the rest would not have gotten QUITE the vitriolic response they got, critics today are a lot less hostile towards horror. Hell, Terrifier 2 got good reviews!
  6. By all accounts its very newcomer friendly but im curious how non fans will like it.
  7. It'd be a shock if this broke the Saw series' rotten RT streak but I could see this being mid to high 50s. If it did go fresh...having your 10th entry be your best would be hilarious, dethroning Fast peaking with 5.
  8. Halloween as a TV show is bad enough (that Friday the 13th one sounds awful), but A24? What a bad fit, I like their stuff but not for trashy slasher sequels!
  9. Saw rankings ahead of X: Saw - 8/10 Saw VI - 8/10 Saw II - 7/10 Saw III - 6/10 Saw IV - 5/10 Saw V - 5/10 Saw 3D - 4.5/10 Jigsaw - 4.5/10 Spiral - 3/10
  10. IF this makes bank and gets a decent response, would it not shake a lot of faith in the DC execs? The movies the producers thought would do well flopped and audiences rejected while the ones they dumped...end up a hit with audiences liking it.
  11. I think the marketing softened the gross a bit. Undersold the Poirot connection and oversold the horror elements. Deterred older audiences and rug pulled younger ones.
  12. It's a Saw film, none of these ever get good reviews (not even the original). But the director did do Saw VI which is generally considered the best sequel.
  13. I got into this series late due to being way too young for the first 7 (watched them all leading up to Jigsaw) and this is the first new one where the hype feels real?
  14. Look at the cast of the three films, these should've been some of the most awesome and legendary action films of all time. Stallone even directed and wrote the first...and they're all pretty awful and dull except 2 which is decent at best.
  15. Wow what a shock, you make an Expendables film in name only and wonder why no one showed up! This franchise is the biggest missed opportunity of all time.
  16. Saw this other day and found it pretty below average. It's not awful or anything, it hits its beats well enough but its the most generic CBM I've seen in years. Nothing remotely unique enough about it to stand out. Would've done fine in 2017/2018 when standards were lower and fatigue hadn't settled in yet but it's not a surprise why this floundered in 2023.
  17. The only guy who could've taken over for Miyazaki as the natural successor, Yoshifumi Kondō was literally worked to death. And they never found anyone else unfortunately. Nippon TV has at least been with Ghibli since the 80s so that's better than some new company with zero relationship to them taking over I guess. I also wonder if Miyazaki not retiring is less so him making another film and more so writing a ton of scripts and sketching out concepts for future Ghibli films post passing,
  18. Genuinely impressive they managed to make a worst film than the literal PG-13 rated threequel.
  19. Are Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa given a decent amount to do?
  20. Honestly...I kinda loved this? Visually it's one of the best of the year (wish it was all black and white though) and all the reviews mentioning Welles I now get 100%. I had gripes with some of the narrative plotting but the atmosphere was so haunting and affecting that I let it slide. Surprisingly very somber.
