  1. I was listening to the Empire Podcast interview with Chris McQuarrie and he even said they got walkouts at Dead Reckoning test screenings, it's not that out of the ordinary.
  2. Never seen or had an interest in the first two Poirot films but I'm going to this tomorrow. Everything I've heard and seen sounds really intriguing.
  3. Me: God I'm so sick of capeshit, let it all die I'm so tired of them Also me: YES KING GO OFF WAN I KNEEL This looks awesome, can't remember the last time I was hyped for a CBM
  4. Since everyone else is posting rankings: Porco Rosso Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Spirited Away Ponyo Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro My Neighbor Totoro Princess Mononoke Kiki’s Delivery Service The Boy and the Heron The Wind Rises Castle in the Sky Howl’s Moving Castle I love all of these except the last two, castles should NOT be moving! I haven't seen any non Miyazaki Ghibli yet but I do plan to check some out soon!
  5. I agree but it's not really gonna appeal to kids at all. Not that it's graphic or inappropriate but they'll be bored and confused most likely. It's much more for older audiences.
  6. He put it in the grossest, most extreme example possible but he's not wrong. The invasion of privacy with AI deepfakes and body scans is extremely concerning and I don't think anyone's equipped yet for the legal/criminal/moral questions they're gonna be raising in the near future. What he's talking about is already happening online with celebrities being deepfaked into pornography against their consent and knowledge, Penn's just asking execs how they'd like it to happen to them.
  7. I went through all of Miyazaki's films for the first time this past month to prep for TBATH and Porco is my fav too!
  8. This 20 second teaser has generated more positive buzz online than any of the god awful Flash trailers did (which we all had to hype regardless of what our eyes were seeing bc test screenings). I'm hoping reshoots didn't sand down an initial crazier cut (Wan did cite Planet of the Vampires as an inspo) and he can still deliver the goods.
  9. Saw it yesterday in IMAX (looks amazing in the format). Here's a short review I posted, no plot spoilers or anything. Def need to see it again, wasn't the magnum opus I was hoping for but still really really great. https://boxd.it/4POxVb
  10. Glad they kept the trampoline gag in but the Grindhouse trailer looked WAY more fun. They waited too long!
  11. One of the most baffling performances of the year esp because Levi is charming in the first film but here? Sticks out like a sore thumb amongst everyone else.
  12. If anything they make the AMPTP look worse. If these small studios and productions can afford to abide by SAG guidelines then why can't the multi billion dollar conglomerates?
  13. I'm glad Disney is still restoring their classics, I don't think the others were AS botched as Cinderella's old blurays but based on this screen cap? We could be in for some nice improvements.
  14. I'm a big (new) Yimou fan, guess I'll have to check it out!
  15. Not great for BO perspective but Miami Vice and his other great later work also scored similarly upon release so...
  16. I really hate that in today's media landscape I have to know studio CEOs by name and have opinions on them. Feels like we never knew producers/execs as much as we do today? The artists were always more at the forefront. I hope that thin skinned comment in Deadline ruins their day today, if they truly are that ego bruised.
  17. I thought Promising Young Woman was decent (although I get the complaints lobbied at it) and this also looks really good! A definite step up from a production standpoint.
  18. If Killers of the Flower Moon overperforms like I expect it to (paired with Oppenheimer's success), I think this has a strong shot of breaking out. It'll be good counter programming for adults this holiday season as well.
  19. I wish these films were better but they're perfectly serviceable matinee 3 star dad films, taking my own this weekend to see it probably. He is hyped.
  20. The vast majority of superhero films I've seen could've worked just as well at a shorter runtime like this, there's SO much bloat in this subgenre. If anything this increases my interest in watching it.
