At this point it is pretty much up to WB's interpretation for the bomb. If TSS doing good, they can claim the hbo max didn't hurt box office as much so they should continue exploring HBO max. If TSS bombed, they can also claim the theater is dead and therefore they need HBO max day-to-date strategy. They can spin the story either way, so pretty much up for them which version is fitting to their belief. -
I tend to believe that it is because of AQP2/F9/BW have their marketing launched before Covid-19 and that is why the focus and the hype was way more stronger. And the buzz still got carried over to their delayed release date, especially in the case of AQP2/F9, their box office run like a pre-pandemic tentpole, As for TSS, the marketing only kick off during pandemic, where everyone is paying attention to delta or when can they get their vaccine shot....The mood just isn't set in for any entertainment event.

Unfortunately, WB marketing thus far is positioning TSS as an additional content for their HBO max than an actual DC event. So for them no extra marketing expenses required to hype up the release

Yes, we desperately need some improvement to wash away the meltdown -
But I remember SJ2 has a meh IM over the weekend, probably hurt by HBO max, but people still have to paid to see JC on Disney+,

Currently at 96%. Assuming TSS final RT score stop at 86%, they will still be FRESH even after we minus out the last SS score (26%).

F9 is so much higher than BW, is it kind of unusual for MCU movie?

Even without Delta-resurgence, TSS already have multiple things against it. I can really see this went as a "unnoticed" soft reboot that went pass general audience's knowledge.

There are still people thinking Titanic is for young girl? You can't generate 1.84b in 1997 simply because young girl love it. Everyone loves Titanic except those on the loser end. I would say young girl were the most vocal group loving it but they hardly the only love it,

I don't know much about SJ2, but I doubt people will be satisfied with 35m opening or 100m total even during pandemic era. This is supposed to be a new franchise for 2020s. Oct 22 could save Dune from excessive competition but its biggest competition is actually HBO max now.

The trailer definitely hint for darker style of storytelling but still, but isn't without some subtle humour.
