Happy new year my fellow box office fanatics. Been lurking the old box office mojo forums since 2003 (Hidalgo was the movie that got me onto box office lmao) and finally made an account on this new forum not long ago.. crazy to see how much time has passed.
Being one of the top films in Australia/NZ right as Xmas holidays start should help bring in some more money. I won't lose hope in $400M yet. I can still see it.
That $4.8M for Dune is much higher than the original $3.4 estimate. Much better also, that's actually a solid opening. Surpassed the estimate was that far off.
Eternals crawling to $400m is just so.. boring. Legs both domestic and overseas have been mediocre. Every weekend it seems Eternals' final gross forecast has dropped bit by bit. Completely underwhelming.
Dune (which was supposed to get flatlined by Eternals) will be about $10m off from Eternals when all is said and done. Don't think anyone can say they were expecting that.
$25.8M to go. Another $10-12M from remaining markets. S. Korea presales for IMAX re-release being huge is very encouraging. Then Australia NZ and Vietnam will bring it home with another $15-20M hopefully.
Agreed. Like every weekend it will likely see an increase with actuals. Just under $270M with some gas in the tank and 3 markets yet to open. Hoping for an overperformance in Australia/NZ and $300M OS
Nice recovery for Dune after that middling Friday. Was hoping for a better hold (after those great weekdays) but I will take $3.1M just fine.
Eternals, yeesh. Venom goddamn.
Its dailies after only 14 days are on par with a hybrid streaming release that opened with $30M less. That says a lot to me. Wonder if Eternals' Friday increase will be muted like Dune's was on its 3rd weekend.
