I’m pretty sure the only reason Part 3 has not be already announced is that WB is pushing for the sequel now while Denis wants to make another film inbetween.

You don’t make those kind of numbers without an engaging story and cool characters. You don’t make those kind of numbers only with top notch VFX. The man just needed a couple of scenes to make the audience cheer and root for a whale. This is what we are talking about…

So culturally irrelevant that a re release after 12 years since it came out made $134M WW. So culturally irrelevant that the sequel of such an irrelevant feature still outgrossed Spider-Man: No Way Home even cutting out all of its IMAX screens gross.

Regarding Paul’s abrupt turn I think it makes perfect sense since he drank the WoL as Paul and then he woke up as the utterly powerful KH.

1. Movies especially like Dune are highly profitable also after their theatrical lifetime; 2. Net production budget will be lower; 3. It will make anyway way more than $500M. What are we even talking about lol

Maybe you already mentioned it but during the knife final fight you can hear the sound of the sea, evocative of the future. Pure class.

This place is incredible. Villeneuve just made one of the most acclaimed blockbuster in recent memory, audience response is crazy good, the film will win at least 5 AA, it will double the OW of its predecessor with at least a $180M+ global launch, there’s a Bene Gesserit series in the pipeline, the script for Dune 3 is almost finished, Zimmer is already writing music for the next one, the film will be profitable even if it will make $500M but… Messiah is not 100% guaranteed? Okay.

Because DOM will be bigger this time but lets not forget that the first one came out with restrictions all over the world with strong competition in a weakened and crowded market and there were 4K copies online thanks to Max. I mean Wonka crossed $600M this one will be absolutely bigger.

$600M is low. Let’s say $75M OW that would lead to at least $200M DOM. The same DOM/OS of the first one would then lead to $750M+ WW. Yeah no Russia but the better reception will compensate that.

Never bet against a great film sequel to another great film…

Dune 2 will open ww with $170-200M, it will win at least 5/6 AA and it got an ever better reception that 1… so Dune 3 is already locked. The only question is exactly when it will be released. Ah and Zimmer is already writing music for the next one.

The great houses and the Guild just witnessed a cult leader nuking the capital of the production of the spice while unleashing a brutal indigenous force against colonialist like them. It makes perfect sense to me that the great houses won’t instantly bow and this notion reinforce the radical anti colonialist message of the film. Chani just did what she told Paul literally 30 mins before the end: she will follow him as long as he will stay who he is. He’s not that boy she fell in love anymore.

So Feyd has an harem of cannibal women? That’s crazy weird and cool. I’m surprised about how dark it was. Talking fetus was genius.

Saw it yesterday and I’m still in awe. What a wonderfully crafted tragic story about power and faith as tools to reach a purpose thru violence and strength, of the body and especially of the mind. It’s crazy to me that Villeneuve was able to visualize such a deep dark tragedy - with 1/3 of the film subtitled - into a successful blockbuster. It’s also a great contemporary generational tale about how the youngsters are fatally linked to the choices made by the oldest within a world order ruled by people in the shadows who are the ones that truly map our future. It’s also a vivid warning of the dangers of religious beliefs and centric power of charismatic leaders. Truly a monumental achievement.

I just don’t get why some of you guys still think this film will end up making the same amount of money Wonka just did ww…

It makes sense given the fact that there’s gonna be a big time jump in the next one.

Part 2 will double Part 1 gross.

Never heard about scenes for Part II shot back in 2020… Part II wasn’t even green lighted at that time for obvious reasons. Maybe Denis reused some footage but “at least 15 mins” seems a lot.

The number of people who discovered and loved Dune after release is pretty big. Instead of Part 1 that was an introduction to Herbert’s world Part 2 will be a full action war film with a love story at its core and a satisfying ending, I feel it will open north of $100M DOM and will double Part 1 gross WW by the end of its run.

Just saw the film a solid Mann entry with great performances, drama, emotions and cool racing scenes. Hopefully it will make a decent amount of money out of its $95M budget in order to green light Heat 2.

Literally every reaction on You Tube states that 2 is better than 1. If 3 is really good, I don’t see how it can do less than 2.

Hopefully Nolan will kick out Gunn from the third spot globally at this point.

So Oppie 3rd weekend will be almost identical to Inception 3rd weekend.

So basically Oppie will end up being the seventh biggest Rated R movie DOM.
