    @el sid I don't understand how TSoD is seemingly selling better than Sonic 2 at the theaters you're tracking when that one opened with 71 million, it is overindexing somehow?

    It's unlikely to match CoG in most countries considering the reception and recasting.

    There will be a 4 and 5. Not to mention they are building FB expansions at Orlando. And considering they appointed Tom Ascheim to oversee the Wizarding World expansion, it's a sign of WB's ambitions, and also smart for WB to keep Jo, the architect and creator of that world, happy if they want more, providing that she has any desire to do more after FB5.

    I've seen some (in the UK I guess) say they felt marketing wasn't pushed as strongly there. I can't say really, not sure how you would even go about measuring that. "for its sins?" jesus Schumacher, you are an asshole. "Fan fiction"? What on earth are you talking about?

    One thing that's impossible to measure is the recast. I expected a drop everywhere due to multiple factors but the UK is strange indeed. Hopefully the legs are better and they should logically be.

    Why would that be when people are liking this one much more than CoG? Did CoG somehow leave that bad of a taste in people's mouths?

    Many people are saying it's the best of the three. So whatever slower start it could make up via WOM? Didn't remember CoG opened higher than FBAWTFT by a wide margin but still fell behind.

    One factor that will also impact box office for FB: TSoD to a degree: Johnny Depp being replaced. I tend to not take people saying they're boycotting something seriously but here, I know that the horde of Deppheads (I'm one too, but I've made my peace with it) saying they're not going to watch the film will not.

    The films making more than 600 million in pandemic times are super rare. I have no doubt The Batman and most of the big films releasing now (and especially earlier in the pandemic) would make more in regular times. And let's not even talk about China which is going to be dead for a while with the zero covid policy. That alone means remove 30 million+ probably from the CoG gross, remove Russia, etc.
