Pretty decent weekend for Apes all things considered. Probably won't know what the real actual WOM is until next weekend. Anything higher than a 55% drop would not be good. IF should not hurt it really and I don't think it loses it's PLFs to that.

That Saturday bump for Apes is quite healthy. Overall, I would say 2024 openers do better for their first Saturday jump compared to what we had in the past 2-3 years.
Strong Saturdays are a sign that the casuals are coming back at least somewhat.

I'm pretty sure that won't be the case, though we have no way of accurately measuring that.
At a certain point you just have to let your bitterness go. Fall Guy is far from the first critically-praised flop and it will surely be nowhere near the last. There will still be other movies to look towards.
Yeah I know.Just exaggerating a little. Yep it's not the first and it won't be the last. Maybe gosling just should not do action comedies with Guy in the title. Maybe that's the lesson. 😃

How come I get a feeling there will be more adults without children who see Garfield in a theater than see The Fall Guy. Not sure what that says but yeah....

Nope, sadly.
This was never going to be big OS. But still what a GD shame. Everybody involved must wonder why they bothered if audiences were going to care this little and be this indifferent to it.

Well done, A cross between Fall Guy TV and Hooper.
Had a decent crowed where I saw it this weekend end people seemed to really like it
Leads played it well together.
Action was solid.
Ryan Gosling just seems destined to star in action comedies with Guy in the title that people do not bother to see in theaters and discover at home

It will be up to Moms tomorrow how close to 60 Apes can get.

We need Charlie's Saturday number. He was the closest yesterday.

I like how my own personal anticipation for Twisters got turned into a meme
LOL. I am sorry. Could not resist. We may disagree on Apes but I am very much looking forward to Twisters. It could be the only Live action PG-13 movie of the summer to have a chance at 200 DOM. Which says more about this summers schedule than anything. I just feel like there are a lot of other good anticipated movies to come that if they live up to their potential every thing will be fine.

At least not interpret it on the scale of "B = D"
The one thing is for the longest time Audiences were easier on Mainstream studio movies than Critics. So a B does equal D for audiences. But we are now living in such divisive times in all walks of life that may not mean much any more.

If I respond to some of the others posters on here about the quality of Kingdom it will just go down the rabbit hole of disagreement. To each their own. Whatever. Let's start counting down the days to the summer savior Twisters. And I am looking forward to that. But there are a lot of movies to come.

If those Saturday numbers are true than we really need to retire even taking CS seriously in any way.

50 m + 4 day possible? Hope it keeps up and it not just the cinephiles blowing their load early, The review embargo which happens on Wednesday I think after the Cannes screening should only help assuming the reviews are strong.

Meh. War only did 146 DOM. It'll get a sequel.
Yeah War did not go over all that well with the GA either yet that still got a A- CS and was a much darker movie with less action than this. That's why the B CS is so head scratching. Something just feels out of whack here.

To put it as politely as I can, I do not think India buzz has any relation whatsoever to American buzz about an American movie
This. Quite the reach to say buzz in India reflects on buzz here in the US. I still would like a answer to the question how have these movies done there.

Ya know, we all watch a ton of movies here. We're all gonna be confused by something we loved getting a divisive reaction from time to time. I'm glad you loved it and hope you get to catch it again when it's still on premium screen!
It did setup future movies very well (to the point that I wished the ending was actually the beginning of the last act). I think I'll like the next one better. I can't imagine the creatives involved not getting a shot at least at one sequel. They did enough right and the reaction is overall positive. OW DOM is solid too.
Yeah. Don't get me wrong I don't want to be a movie nazi and say everybody has to like what I like. Still feels like a such a well done right down the middle of the plate movie to get a B CS even a B+ or a A- would have shown some people just did not jibe with it. But this movie is not Civil War or The Challengers or something. And we are talking about this before the weekend is over and before we see it's second weekend drop. Will see if WOM is really that mixed or not.

I’m pretty sure the movies are all leading up to a remake of the first Apes movie. So I’d guess that will be where the next film takes us.Yep they did set it up in Rise . In the background on the news about a space mission that went bad and the crew and shuttle went missing.

Eh. Meh. I'm somewhat of a snob with films and even I disagree. It's not nearly smart enough to lack more action umph. Maybe if the pacing was better? It's good overall don't get me wrong. The human female character's story kinda falls apart when you examine with even a magnifying glass from a Cracker Jack box.
The action that's there is really great early and really bland, dull late too. I can see why people are kinda bored with it.
I don''t know I don't agree. For me the pacing was just fine and the action was exciting and there was enough throughout the movie to satisfy. I can not believe this movie of all movies is getting a divided reaction. But these are the times we live in I guess.

I love the apes movies and have no problems with them but honestly I do wish they'd add some more action just so the GA would actually turn out for them. Dawn had enough action to get people interested and still had the more quiet emotional stuff the rest of us like
There is enough action in this movie. If the mouth breathing short attention span pea brains can not see that than that's a them problem.

This feels like such a non event. Honestly, zero buzz or hype in India. Maybe the movie is good and they are confident it will manage a solid opening weekend and then wom will take care of the rest, but honestly I won't be shocked if it does under 35M opening weekend.
Talk to you in 4 weeks.Asking a serious question. Have these movies been big in India?

I feel like there's something of a coasts/interior divide on the appeal of Twisters. Urbanites don't get it but the Midwest is all for it.
Yeah the people in Tornado alley. Funny how that works. While the rest of us ask is this Insensitive to release. I live on the West Coast and love the Original and hope this breaks out big. As long it respects the people who have to suffer through these natural disasters.

The advantage Kingdom will have in it's second weekend for not taking a nasty drop over what War did is the movie that opened in it's second weekend. War had another 50 million opener which was Dunkirk and the audience cross over was high. Kingdom will have IF which does not look like a 50 million opener right now and is playing to a different audience. Of course we are living in different times and if people do not like Kingdom or hear the WOM is not good or mixed, It will not matter what the competition is.

The posttrak data aligns with the verified audience score and B cinemascore. Deadline also says 43% of people who bought tickets because they love the franchise. People giving poor scores are not just casuals but fans of the series as well.
I honestly do not know what movie they saw then. It is a Planet of The Apes movie. Is it as elegant as what Reeves did? No but we are not talking some massive drop in quality or something to warrant this reaction.

So it is clear people just want some dumb fun movie like GxK or G: FE. The biggest complaints so far I heard about Apes, is too little action, not too surprised after learning its budget.,
The too little action complain is just weird. There is about as much action in this as there was in Dune Part 2 and that movie is 20 minutes longer. Dune 2 is the better movie yes but still.

Really? There is nothing I see in IF that makes me feel it needs to be see in a large format. This is one of the problems with theatrical right now. They are marketing to people saying see it on the biggest screen possible but if the big movie has only one weekend to have those screens before losing it than people are just like well might as well wait until I can stream it now because my theater cut the showtimes way down for those screenings in the second weekend.
