Might be the biggest OW of 2024 that isn't called Deadpool & Wolverine
I do not think it's out opening IO 2.

Tapped out halfway through watching the trailer. This could get 100% on RT and I do not see that I could spend 90 min+ watching this in a theater.

I honestly do not know how Lionsgate is staying in business.

National cinema day will not be on Beetlejuice opening weekend
yeah no way WB would sign off on that. There might just not be one this year or on Labor Day weekend if they do but not that Sept 6th weekend.

6 more weeks of this....

I am not even a big fan of the first movie. , Thought it was a decent watch, , Probably will watch it again before this comes out. But the way some around here seem to want or are trying to will this into being a big underperformer is weird. A large audience loved the first one and their is no reason to think they will not do the same with this and Lady Gaga might bring in a audience that did not love or see the first one in a theater.

6 and a half weeks of this back and forth go. If the conversation and skepticism around the first one was not insufferable enough.

It’s pretty obvious this is just going to have a couple musical sequences in it (which are clearly shown in the trailer) and not a full blown musical. If anything, I expect people to love the musical sequences here. I remember back when Joker was about to come out, people (including me) thought it would have terrible legs because no one was going to like a comic book movie with no action scenes.
Yeah it feels like Deja Vu how people are possibly underestimating the potential again.

can fantastic 4 move already so this can bump back a week? thanks
I still feel like this could or will happen. If they get behind on production or need to work on the visual affects. Why rush F4 just to make a date. It is Marvel's most important movie of the 3 next year.

Why would Superman make more than The Batman?
Possibly because it will be a brighter more uplifting movie that families can go see. The Batman was kind of dark and not exactly a feel good all audience movie.

I feel like I got to add to the Mission Conversation since it is my favorite action franchise. Dead Reckoning would have cost less if not for Covid. The Delays really did a number. It would have made more money if not for the release date and if Paramount did not do kind of a quiet marketing campaign where they went a whole year between trailers and Barbenheimer buzz was blowing up.

I wish Joe Johnston did more film in the MCU. Probably not the Cap sequels but the style he brought to TFA on, say, Avengers probably would have gone hard as hell.Yeah what the hell happened to him. He has not made a major movie since. He's only 74 now which is younger than his mentor Spielberg or Scorsese or Sir Ridley. I guess he got burned out or something.

WINTER SOLDIER is not just the best Cap movie for me, it's also one of Marvel's best.
No argument there. It's still my number one MCU movie.

The First Avenger is the best Captain America movie.
I love The First Avenger and it's my number one Phase 1 movie but Winter Soldier just edges it out. Civil War I always feel like is more Avengers Part 2.5

Cap 4 doesn’t have Steve Rogers, is following a crappy streaming show, and the China and Korea market which were big for the original movies have shrunk. When it doesn’t make much more than 550m don’t act surprised
550 WW would be over 100 million more than QM did on that same weekend 2 years earlier. Would not be a profitable movie but they would take it if the movie was good and WOM led to strong legs.
-
Love the Black Widow love. It's no Winter Soldier but what is? If it had come out in May 2020 in a non covid world it would have easily opened over 100 and did 250+DOM and 700WW.

At Walmart I thought Furiosa would get the new poster. Instead it only got 4 slots, 3 week old The Fall Guy still has the poster and somebody blocked the Furiosa disks with TFG disks.
Granted WB has been dominating disk sales this year, so Furiosa bombing there is not bad for them. Also The Bikeriders is outselling If.
Hell it's good to know one of the major retailers still sells Blu Rays/DVD and makes a point of it.

I'm looking forward to Thunderbolts for two reasons: Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Florence Pugh
Florence all the way. I like Black Widow more than most people and she is the main reason. She kills it.

Deadpool & Wolverine just did enough money that they can offset whatever loss Captain America brings. But even if it loses money, it'll still probably be a Top 10 Box Office film next year. And despite 2023, we're all still talking about the MCU.
My feeling on BNW is that assuming it's substanially better than Quantamania and gets better WOM on that same Opening Holiday weekend it could open at say 70-90 over those 4 days compared to that movie doing 120 and leg it out to the same final total. Yeah it would lose money but they will have it baked in by that point. Of course it could be terrible be another Marvels at the Box office.

I’m sure Alien will hold well. I guess we’ll see with the weekday numbers but it’s an R-Rated film in late August, I imagine it’ll hold decently despite schools coming back. And WOM isn’t toxicA weekend of 17-20 would be a pretty good hold for a movie that only had a IM of about 2.3 from it's Preview/Friday total.

Next weekend could be interesting. Unless Romulus has a better hold than it seems like it will right now or either the Crow or Blink Twice really surprise, nothing will do over 20 m. But it should still be a solid weekend overall with how well movies have been holding. The real question is can DP and W retake number one. It has taken it's PLF hit and obv has way more GA/Casual appeal than Romulus. I could see it doing in the 17-20 range and Romulus doing the same. Gonna be interesting.

Alien looking to do internationally what Twisters couldn’t.
Twisters performing domestically what Alien couldn’t.
Wild reversal, same end result.
I guess they should be combined into one giant hybrid movie to get the perfect result. Hopefully better looking than what sounds like the end of one of the two movies happens.

Dam good 3rd weekend of August at the BO. Def the best post covid 3rd weekend . In 21 Free Guy opened to 28 and the top 10 total was 72 m. In 22 Dragon Ball Super Hero opened to 21 and the Top 10 total was 69 and last year Blue Beetle opened to 25 and the total top 10 was 91. This would have been a great weekend even pre covid.

Exactly. There would be no point of screening it at a festival if they then embargoed it to those people. If they are afraid of the reaction why bother.
