  1. Past Lives is probably coming to my local film fest so definitely that. The Boy and the Heron is up in the air cause where I live GKids has dropped the ball on releases before - looking at you Promare - so I might miss it which sucks.
  2. SAG-AFTRA strike made it's premiere go mostly unnoticed outside of the brief Twitter mention of the dystopian hellscape that was the Disney park staff showing up. Outside of that, they've been keeping the release low key for some reason despite early positive buzz.
  3. TMNT: Mutant Mayhem The Last Voyage of the Demeter Blue Beetle Challengers The Creator Killers of the Flower Moon Five Nights at Freddy's Dune: Part Two The Marvels The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Wish Napoleon Wonka Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Ferrari
  4. I rarely see films more then once in the theater. It's mostly a money thing obviously (movies are expensive) but also I'm the type of guy who likes seeing as many different movies as possible, always something new to enjoy. Only a handful of example I saw multiple times and it was mostly me seeing it with somebody else who wanted to see it. Civil War, Guardians Vol. 2, Infinity War, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Dunkirk, and Endgame are the ones that come to mind of ones I saw twice or more.
  5. It's totally fine. I think it's big issue is how safe it's actually playing things which really sucks. It lacks an "oomph" factor.
  6. Pretty wild somebody think that Lady Bird and Little Women aren't hits. Lady Bird was A24's highest grosser for a time ($49M domestic, $79M worldwide) and Little Women hit $108M domestic and $219M worldwide on a budget of $40M. She's had nothing but hits!
  7. Shang-Chi's overseas numbers were crippled by the pandemic (at least to my knowledge) so I don't know if OS could even be a good comp for it in this case.
  8. ^^^This. There is nothing wrong with being a populist director. Many of the all time greats are populists (Spielberg, Lean, Nolan, Carpenter).
  9. It seems MoM continues to have the same arguments again and again. We really do live in a society.
  10. Encanto's success is still absolutely insane. I can only imagine how big that movie theatrically would have been if Disney+ didn't exist.
  11. Enjoying the show well enough but as somebody who has actually liked/loved all of the MCU shows up to this point (outside of What If...?, that show sucks) this just isn't doing it for me. I don't even think the episodes are bad, they just lack an "oomph" that I think it needs to really stand out. It's taking the safest possible route with it's story, which is partly the issue.
  12. Wan has been pretty open about his dislike for doing sequels in general but I feel like his experience on Aquaman 2 is going to be the final nail in the coffin in that regard. If anything in means that next film Wan does after this is going to go sicko mode.
  13. Same thing with Dunkirk for me. My only real feeling after finishing it was an insane amount of anxiety (seriously, watching that movie while suffering from undiagnosed clinical anxiety isn't exactly the best thing for your health) and the general sense of unsure what to feel about the whole affair. Came to really love it after a couple of rewatches though, LOVE how that movie plays with time - a week feels like a day, a day feels like an hour, an hour feels like a week. It's a mood piece, and I know that doesn't vibe with everyone as it's clear that it's a bit divisive here on BOT but it's one of Nolan's best for me. Glad you brought up Insomnia as well. Great movie and massively underappreciated cause it's the only time Nolan did something he didn't write (though he did some uncredited screenplay edits). And he gets to work Al Pacino! Hilary Swank! Robin Williams! It's a bravura cast and they all bring their A-game to this. Wonderfully shot too.
  14. Literally this. WandaVision is one of the more watched MCU shows (several reasons for this) but it still pales in comparison to the movies and DS2 catches you up to speed really quickly on what the hell has been going on so I think it will be the same with The Marvels.
