  1. Agreed, it was plain as day in retrospect that Pascal wasn't on set. And I get it, he was busy with other projects at the time (mainly Last of Us) but I think it really affected the character and it's partly the reason why I think Bo-Katan stood out over him that season.
  2. It's been enough of time and finally found this thread so I can give me thoughts on the show as a whole. I think Mandalorian is... mostly pretty good? I think? What's bizarre about it is that it's got the skeleton of a truly amazing show there and sometimes reaches greatness in brief moments or episodes. I always go back to the second episode of Season 1 as a great example of what I think the show is really good at - the first half or so of the episode is told almost entirely in silence with minimal dialogue, and that's I think where the show really should focus on. Unfournately the show has become bogged down in fanservice and weak storytelling across the board, and it's frustrating cause there is still stuff to really like in this. Din is great. Grogu is great. Their relationship is great and it's the heart of the show, it's at it's best when it's just about that. I think Bo-Katan is a great character and her development has been interesting if a retread of stuff from Rebels. It's consistently gorgeous. But it's also kind of hollow; it lacks meat on the bones, with episodes too short to really leave an impact or a lack of thematic tissue. I think Season 3 also began to lose focus on what it was even about, using the season as a quick, all too neat wrap up of the Mando conflict when that really should have been bigger, longer, and far more impactful then it was. I hate sounding like I hate this show cause I don't, I think it's entertaining and I don't regret my time with it when I watch it. But considering some of the other stuff Star Wars has put out, whether it be pre-Disney era movies, recent movies, other shows, animation, books, comics, shows, games, etc, the praise for Mando specifically has always kind baffled me. Then again I'm still probably going to be there for Season 4 so what do I know lmfao
  3. Rooting for Succession to sweep the damn Emmys. One of the best shows I've ever seen and deserves it's place in the pantheon.
  4. Giving another boost to this show cause I really love it. It's a classic and I'm really glad it's coming, the animated trailer felt like a wave of nostalgia coming back. My dad is also going nuts for this (he loves the show and got me into it).
  5. I wish more people talked about Barry in my personal circles cause it's really fucking good. Like INSANE good. Final season wasn't what I expected in a good way, felt like thriller more then a comedy and I love that shift, really put into perspective how much Barry fucked people over. Finale was excellent too.
  6. Want to give another boost to this show, it's fantastic so far. Basically the best Superman thing we've had in a long, long time, and is exactly what I want to see from more adaptations of this character.
  7. I wasn't sold on the show initially from the trailers and the Mandoverse era has been exceptionally hit or miss for me in terms of quality anyways but yeah, this newest trailer really sold me for the most part. Sabine looks fantastic, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is really capturing Vanessa Marshall's inflections, and the scope seems much bigger then prior shows. Really excited to see how Filoni plays solo in live action, I feel like he will do much better if he doesn't have Favreau around. Ironically the only thing I'm still not entirely sold is Ahsoka herself. Dawson's performance never really resonated with me in her prior appearances and I'm hoping I'm wrong but the trailers seem to indicate more of the same in that regard which kind of sucks. Hoping she wins me over in the actual series but ehhhhh.
  8. Sucks that Skarsgard, Serkis, and Shaw got left out of the nominations this year for Andor but it was a competitive year in acting and Succession was going to dominate regardless. Andor is the best thing Star Wars has maybe ever put out anyways so it's legacy will be stronger then that.
  9. Glad it got nominated. It's not perfect but it's a great show and deserves the appreciation. I think it mostly got in cause Miniseries/Anthology is kind of weak this year in terms of shows but nevertheless glad it did!
  10. God I can't wait for this show. I'm huge into the High Republic stuff to begin with - some of the best of modern Star Wars is there - and the production team, cast, and premise are really strong. Honestly outside of the Mandoverse stuff (which I'm mostly eh on) live action TV Star Wars has been of high quality stuff and I'm thinking this continues that trend.
  11. Disney will continue to use the 20th Century Studios logo for films that it deems appropriate for that label, as well any IPs that originated there will stay there (Avatar, Planet of the Apes, Alien, Simpsons, etc). My guess is that it's slowly becoming a replacement for Touchstone as they seem to be putting their mid-budget/big budget adult fare there.
  12. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO This looks so fucking good I can't wait
  13. Yeah Indy is pretty much done here. Unsure where it will end up but I think the ceiling is probably $170M domestic and no further then that. It will be lucky to get to $400M WW, if it does I will be genuinely shocked. As for M:I, I'm thinking it could hold better then expected but it is going to take a pretty big hit considering the lack of PLFs. M:I tends to hold well too. Looking at the other films... M:I1 - 52% M:I2 - 53% M:I3 - 48% Ghost Protocol - +131.2% if you count the early limited release, if not then it's -.2% (holy shit lmfao) Rogue Nation - 49% Fallout - 42% It's probably not holding as well as Fallout and we can also ignore Ghost Protocol cause that had a bizarre release. Rogue Nation would be ideal for it, but I'm thinking right now it lands at 55-57% drop in it's second weekend. Steepest drop in the series due to the lack of PLFs, but not a complete disaster of a drop.
  14. It's possible Universal doesn't have faith in the project which sucks, I think this looks like a blast. The "Captain's Log" section of Dracula is a really interesting part of the book that isn't explored very much so them deciding to use that as a launching point for what is essentially a new Dracula movie is really clever.
  15. I thought the trailer was pretty good (lots of cool visual inventiveness in the shot compositions and seems just right mix of silly and genuinely spooky) so I'm hoping this does well.
  16. Feel more confident by the day that this will be a breakout. Trailers all get great responses when I see them in the theater, it's the first major animated film since Elemental, and it has an art style that's "in" right now. I expect WOM to be really strong for it too.
  17. Probably sometime in August is my guess.
  18. Yep. Elemental blew me away with how impressively gorgeous it was, and most of the really "holy shit" moments of animation aren't in the trailers either.
  19. Pixar has always been insane in terms of budgets and I doubt that's going to change. Little fun fact about that: A Bug's Life cost around $120M back in 1998, which in today's dollars means it would have costed around $225M. Monsters Inc. costed $115M in 2001 and would have also been $200M. They've basically had the same pricey tag on their films since 1998.
  20. Elemental is basically the only true family film until TMNT on August 2nd, and even then it will still be an option for families who might wanna see something that really young audiences can enjoy (TMNT might be a violent for the really young ones). It's gonna be fine like you said.
  21. The entire Snow White "controversy" feels so forced and stupid in the same way TLM one was. Who actually gives a shit? These are movies made for kids based on animated films also made for kids. If anything Snow White doing something different with the story makes it more interesting considering we've had like 3 different Snow White films in the 2010s alone.
  22. I've been seeing this clip all day on TikTok and being reposted by people I didn't even think would be interested in M:I. If it gets them interested, hell yeah. Let it spread.
  23. Depends on my mood but I tend to think M:I-III as my favourite of the original three. Abrams style in it seems to have become more divisive over time - lots of people saying it looks too "TV" or it's edited poorly which I disagree wholeheartedly with - but I like how it looks, it almost feels like Abrams trying to embrace his inner Tony Scott. It's a pretty vicious film too, much darker then the prior films in terms of imagery and it's a nastier one too, which I like. It's the only M:I film that really constantly feels like shit is going south every single second. The bridge sequence is so good. If anything, it's biggest flaw is that Hoffman isn't in it enough, frankly. Rewatching it in prep for DR made me realize just how little he's actually in it.
  24. Unfournately I was way too young at the time for that (I was 2 years old when X-Men came out) but I wish movie websites like this still existed. They feel like a bygone era already.
