Guys, Serkis wasn`t snubbed. He wasn`t considered anything but a SFX. Snub means that someone had a legit shot at a nomination but it didn`t pan out. He never had any shot in acting category because his Guild, SAG, does not consider mo`cap an acting. Simple.
Zelly in Cold Mountian and Blanchitto in The Aviator. Those caricatures were A Grade examples of Oscar whoring. They figured they couldn`t win without going way overboard with camp and overacting and turned it up 100 notches.
Sean Penn in Mystic River. See above minus camp. He was good in Milk.
Adrian Brody in The Pianist. he was doing what he always does - lifelessly gazing into camera until you are knocked out unconscious by the extreme boredom. That his career went downhill from there is no surprise. Watching a grass grow is more exciting than watching 10 minutes of Brody.
Kate Winslet in The Reader. Another A Grade example of Oscar whoring role. Holocaust! Overacting! Fake German accent! She deserved many wins but not for that movie and performance.
OMG, Evenstar, you hit the nail in the head! Leo`s so beautiful and he doesn`t even try, espeically here. But it just shines through. OMG! Camera just love his face no matter what crap they put on it he`s just gorgeous.
I`m beyond happy that overrated overactor Sean "Afterschool Special" Astin got two middle fingers up from Oscars and televized precursors. If Sean Bean couldn`t get a nomination for FOTR (I know that McKellen snagged it but Bean would still make my ballot over him or with him) than Astin`s Oscah whoring definitely didn`t deserve shit.
Also happy that Bello wa signored for HoV. Her overgrown bush must be one of the most disgusting things ever put on the screen. I gagged.
Smith in I Am Legend is an excellent call because he was phenomenal.
Other stupid snubs:
Leo in CMIYC
Leo in The Departed (he was nominated for Blood Diamond instead and that killed his chances since The Departed was nominated for Best Picture)
Leo in Shutter Island
Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge
Vincent Cassel in Black Swan
Fass in Hunger and Shame
Melanie Laurant in IB
Diane Kruger in IB
Uma Thurman in KB Vol.1 and 2
Lucy Liu in KB Vol.1
Shit, whole cast of KB Vol.1 and 2
Connie Nielsen in Gladiator
The Nanny in Mulholand Drive
Imelda Staunton in HP:OotP
RDJ in IM
Karl Urban in Star Trek (if Arkin can get a nod than Karl should have gottan it ten times over)
Eva Green in Casino Royale
Max Pirkis in Master and Commander (as far as child acting goes he was tops)
Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail (Youngest Salim) in Slumdog Millionaire (the movie went to shit when he was replaced by older actors)
OK, I get that stats say that if DDL won with a French BA and octogenian BA, his third win will be with a French octogen. But maybe this time he wins with an American youngster.
That`s insane. Too bad that it can`t muster $20 more to pass Shriekapoo but this is amazing nonetheless and DC, Bardem, Fiennes and Dame Judy are far bigger names than anyone from Shriekster so it`s a huge success.
It`s funny that everyone feels this way about her even those who admit she had talent. She was super cute circa Jerry Maguire and Nurse betty and terrific in the first Bridget Jones (as well as in pretty much all other movies that came before). I think that she went downhill looks-wise when she lost way too much weight for Chicago and looked like a lollypop and than came that desperate Oscar whoring in Cold Mountain. So decline in looks and acting department. Sad what Oscar hunger can do. I hope it destroys Shitto who`s now agressively chasing the Oscar.
Eh, basic couch casting. The actress is obivously banging someone high up in the production who keeps giving her ghost gigs now that she is ousted from the show. Didn`t you notice that her name is still among regular cast? Bitch.
