Love it, B! 2001 had one of the most infamous bombs of the 21 century. I love this piece of shit movie. Glitter made $4.2 million on a $22 million budget. Mariah Carey signed the biggest recording contract in history for a female artist at Virgin Records in late 2000, and the soundtrack to Glitter was going to be her first project at the label. The soundtrack sold a measly 700,000 copies after an extensive promotional campaign that was derailed by Mariah's increasingly bizarre behavior. Her striptease on TRL in August of '01 went viral before viral was a thing, and she started leaving alarming voice messages to fans on her website. She was eventually hospitalized for 'exhaustion.' Virgin Records paid her $33 million to walk away from her contract after the disastrous reception of both the Glitter film and soundtrack. It was the biggest contract buyout in music history. Mariah eventually came back in a big way with 2005's The Emancipation of Mimi, but Glitter is still seen as one of the worst films of the decade.

I had the same feeling in 2002, when I realized that Batman Returns released ten years earlier. Now I’m here realizing it released 26 years ago. Rest, my child. There is still much for you to experience.

The Greatest Showman is the third top ten soundtrack for Benj Pastek and Justin Paul in eleven months. La La Land hit #2 and Dear Evan Hansen hit #8 last year. The Greatest Showman just hit #1.

I was super excited for Proud Mary but it doesn’t look like the studio has much faith in it.

I’m just teasing PDC. He always talks shit about female artists who aren’t Madonna. But her halftime show was definitely forgettable and pretty terrible. Beyoncé came around the next year and cleansed our pallets.

Regardless, she killed Madonna’s halftime show.

The soundtrack for the Greatest Showman is really making the rounds. I think that is really going to help the movie. People love the music.
