Pretty much. I don't think it has been on UK TV since the 90's. I loved it though and remember watching the movies on TV.

It was known as The Charlie Brown and Snoopy show in the UK but it was popular when I was a kid.

So $210m is in play....possibly more. A shocking weekend. This is all down to the power of nostalgia. I expect big things for Star Wars, The Peanuts Movie, BvS, Independence day 2 and Ghostbusters 3.

It's a pointless statistic as the way moviegoers see blockbusters now has changed. Before huge crowds will go at Midnight and see tentpole movies first but after the TDKR incident previews are not as appealing.

I don't get this biggest 'pure' Friday record. Last time I checked DH2 opened midnight which is part of Friday. DH2 made $91M in 24 hours. It wins on 'pure' Friday.

But....but.........WINTER IS COMING!!

Sequel? I can do. Remake? I WILL KILL EVERYONE INVOLVED.

If this means more creature features and less superhero movies I am all for it.

The camerawork, cinematography, set design and direction is really great. It really holds up well and, dare I say it, really is the best installment in the franchise.

OFF TOPIC: Harry Potter 3 is on and I forgot how well made it is. Truly a beautiful film.

Star Wars is going to be HUGE!!!

I am a big PIXAR fan but I honestly see IO under-performing. It just doesn't have that hook. It's marketing material has been solid rather than good/great. Minions is going to destroy records.

Oh I was here that weekend. We were all shocked. I thought Twilight OW was the peak of the franchise but when those numbers came in everyone went into crazy mode. I think Eclipse was more shocking for how unpredicted it was. The potential was there but because it was a female driven franchise we all ignored the signs.

I guess but it didn't have that impact all those 6 movies had in my honest opinion. It is definitely still a huge shocker but SM was the first $100M OW. Shrek made $100M over 3 days after opening quite low on Wednesday. JW is looking to cross $200 OW (and possible OW record) when it was expected to struggle past half of that for 3 day. The Avengers was the first movie to pass $200M in 3 days. THG grossed $150M+ in 3 days without 3d and in March. American Sniper blew past $90 in 3 days when it had already been on limited release plus it was rated R.
