  1. With 2013 releases, Fox OS hit less than $1.5B. The rest is made up mainly by LIFE OF PI spillover from 2012.
  2. Look at this 3rd weekend record by Mojo. http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/moreweekends.htm?page=3&p=.htm Among movies that grossed $30M or more in its 3rd weekend, only 2 ended up with less than $300M (HP2 & UP). Comparison may not be apple to apple because most of these are summer releases, which made GRAVITY performance even more impressive.
  3. I know, it is not a fair comparison but doing $30M in 3rd weekend puts you in an exclusive club - $300M or no.... I also wish Warner does not have PACRIM to promote & release this summer. Imagine a movie like this on that July slot. This could do $350M easily. A waste of opportunity. Is this a Jeff Robinov thing? I heard he was responsible for getting GRAVITY developed, a project previously owned by Universal ?? On a side note: Universal must be banging their heads against the wall: We should keep GRAVITY for the sins of RIPD
  4. We know it can do $300M, easy. But can this do more than $400M OS?
  5. GRAVITY did $31M in its third weekend. Kudos. According to Mojo, among movies that grossed $30M or more in its third weekend, only 2 movies, HARRY POTTER 2 & UP, grossed less than $300M DOM. http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/moreweekends.htm?page=3&p=.htm
  6. Sandra got a better escape plan than Arnie & Sly. Can you imagine this in the 80s?
  7. GRAVITY is expected do well in English-speaking countries. But it should have no impact on non-English speaking countries as the movie is pure action.
  8. We would never know how these deals are made. They will never be so candid about it. Just focus on the general revenue/gross. That's all we can do.
  9. I like PR a lot. More so than TF2/3 (TF1 is the best in the series). But after the initial excitement, I won't see it again or remember any of it. GRAVITY, on the other hand, is an all-round expertly mounted production: cinematography, editing, acting, visual FX, sound, and last but least : score. Even if it is really just a "popcorn" movie instead of this visual essay on "exploration of human courage in the face of the inhospitability of space", it is still a moving, teeth-grinding experience. I just saw GRAVITY today for the 3rd time. And I would be seeing it again and again. I really wish it is shot with real IMAX camera instead of DMR. THE DARK KNIGHT looks freakin' amazing in IMAX.
  10. Relax! Some goofy cartoon called ICE AGE did $50M back in 2012.
  11. CGI, dude. CGI. If they can render space station disintegration with so much realism, I am pretty sure they could handle her "flaws."
  12. GRAVITY only dropped by 16% and it is not doing well? The German Box Office in general is not doing well, I think.
  13. What is GRAVITY total after Week 3? Hard to convert by using admission figures : Is there a shortcut?
  14. They should get a better looking dude...
  15. It is very good. Excellent will be $300M+
  16. This movie has been making major dough in the past few weeks. Is this going to be in the All Time list?
  17. Special ID looks good too. Very interesting crime thriller. Donnie Yen is kicking ass again.
  18. I am surprised BLUE JASMINE is not doing better.
