Jackie Chan movie is traditionally released in Jan/Feb period for Chinese New year.... Why December? MONKEY KING is a Chinese folk take that is great for the New Year...

We should use something other than the romantic SR as a target. That movie is a romance disguised as a superhero movie.

That's also the reason why CAPTAIN AMERICA didn't do as well as IM...

I think it could do close to $80M in UK. There is nothing of this scale until PAC RIM

But some of the acting is stiff. Sun Kang is a great presence but he is not a great actor. His movie girlfriend is not that great an actress herself. Vin resorts to the same slow drawl he uses in all of his movies. Tyrese is doing late night stand-up. The only bright spots are The Rock & Luke Evans

While I really like the scifi angle in MoS, some foreign market doesn't seem too enthused about it. Look at STID, OBLIVION & AE - all underwhelming grosses. AVATAR & TF series seem to be the anomaly since these are basically heavy duty action movies with easy to understand concepts. The biggest surprise is China. I never for once take Chinese audience for a bunch of scifi fans. I mean look at the gross for STID. Paramount should make a deal for WWZ. That one should do massive business.

I don't particularly like the 3rd act "fistfights on the street" scene and the following Bat chasing the trucks, and the Bat carrying a large steel ball into the horizon. They have the quality of straight-to-DVD material. The Bat is obviously hung by wires. I prefer the fight between Bane & Bruce to take place in the more mythological pit with Bruce emerging into the light in the end, rather than yet another "save a Big City from nuclear/terrorist/bio-weapon armageddon" finale (how many is that already? TA, MOS, PACRIM, MI4, GL, MIB3, TASM, WWZ...)

I'd expect MoS mid-week performances to be better. WWZ seems to be a weekend-heavy kind of movie. I see massive sellouts for WWZ on Saturday nights but kinda cool off on Sunday, a lot.

It is a decent entertainment but people love the idea of a bunch of magicians re-dsitributing wealth...lol

I think I prefer keeping Snyder than Goyer. I don't know the real quality of Goyer scripting but often times studio/marketing/execs can have overriding power. That's why many movies begin as a great promise only to inexplicably deteriorate in the 3rd act.

With a rather weak 2nd Friday DOM, $800m WW seems a dream that will never come true. This will do TASM numbers maybe even less now that Europe numbers is not that spectacular. China will be a big help but there is only so much China can do...
