  1. But 911 movies are depressing because the New York thing was a real mass destructive event. I enjoyed the hell out of IM3, OBLIVION, and STID. But too much of this 911 imagery....for me: GIJ2, OBLIVION, WHD, IM3, STID, OLYMPUS.
  2. This is the year where movies show symbol of American freedom is being attacked - repeatedly. I know there are many movies with that kind of theme released after 911 but this year you see White House being attacked in 3 movies alone. That's unusually high percentage don't you think? Plus images of heroes falling, the flag torn and tattered. Even the early Superman poster has Kal El shrouded in darkness. I miss IM1, when it is just a kick ass superhero movie. I don't want to be reminded of 911 all the time, def'ly not over and over again in GIJ2, OLYMPUS, IM3, STID, WHD. Those are 5 911 themed movies in less than 6 months folks!
  3. Yea, but the Blue Aliens are not smart enough to command a ship. GA has fear of aliens sharing power with humans. That's why SW will always be the more popular. It is simple division of types. Even the Good Alien which is getting a token appearance is never the one who saves the day alongside the hero #1. Maybe SW7 will change that. AVATAR is different. You get to see the human hero saves the alien race but not the other way around. We, humans, get to pat ourselves in the back for saving a backward alien race. In ST, an alien stand tall alongside the human, equal in intellect. There are black, Oriental, Russian sharing command over the ship. Trek is a liberal fantasy.
  4. Yea, but a GA associates ship/vessel with Authority. ST is scifi. And to GA, Scifi alien is evil. ST feels too liberal for some folks
  5. The 2 movies share more than just that: Did Lindelof do a re-write of IM3? Did Damon rewrite every summer movie since PROMETHEUS?
  6. Never thought this one would hit $350 million, let alone $400 million. ST is too cerebral for GA. Having an alien sharing command over a spaceship must be one of the reasons.
  7. It just feels like a TV episode with bigger budget. The filmmakers (incl the writers) do not bother to build suspense or come up with an inventive sequence that audience gonna love (EMPIRE's Falcon chase through the asteroids, JEDI's hovercraft sequence, MI4 Dubai scene etc). The film also has convoluted plot, creating unnecessary labyrinth of plots that never go anywhere. And we all know sometimes, the best movies have the simplest plots (The convoluted-ness of INCEPTION & USUAL SUSPECTS is the point of the story). They spend more than $200 million on this project? It's crazy.
  8. 2015 has 6 "1 billion" movies locked? SW7 TA2 Bond 24 HG: MJ2 Pirates 5 FINDING DORY
  9. That scene is so ridiculously hilarious that I forgot this is a superhero movie and Mandarin is a well known villain in the Marvel universe.
  10. Question is: will it outdo TDKR $448 mill? Will it fly past $400 mill?
  11. No matter how the movie performs domestically, this will do gangbuster overseas.
  12. 2 people get lost in outer space. Here is a pen and some paper. Go. Well, Hollywood did release BURIED, 127 HRS, OPEN WATER and the best part of OUT OF SIGHT.
  13. $1 billion OS is within reach?At least $900 million+ for $1.3- $1.4 billion WW ($400 mill DOM, $900 mill OS)
  14. Can it at least exceed $600 mill OS after this weekend? TA did $627 mill at this point (correct me if I'm wrong). UPDATE: you guys are predicting $660 mill OS? That is insane!
  15. Tyler Perry's movies seem to be all over the calendar. I love the prolific nature of this guy's career but shouldn't Tyler Perry slow down a little, let people have a slot in the release schedule? He is scaring away Jurassic Park.
  16. This looks spectacular. Officially becomes one of the most anticipated titles this year.
