  1. I don't think people see attending live events and going to movie theaters as the same thing, though. Edit: @Cmasterclay just made my point better than I could...
  2. Nimona also has the underdog narrative of being saved from cancellation which I think could help sway a few votes. Right now my top nine candidates would be: Spider-Verse How Do You Live? (if it's screened in the U.S this year) Suzume Nimona Wish Chicken Run 2 Ernest & Celestine 2 TMNT (with good enough reviews, it could sneak in there) Robot Dreams (got strong reception at Cannes and just won top honors at Annecy)
  3. If you start the clock at NWH there's been five $1b films in 1 1/2 years. 2022 has three billion-grossers and would've had 4 if Doctor Strange 2 got a China release. Same timespan between July 2018 and December 2019 produced 10 $1b films. Obviously nowhere near it still, but going the full 3 1/2 year timespan is going to be misleading since nothing was making $1b when large parts of the world were under lockdown.
  4. It was supposed to go to streaming in the first place. That's what probably made it easy for them to can it since they had no theatrical obligations.
  5. Bale and Pattinson weren’t major BO draws either before they became Batmen. I think it just comes down to if you buy them in the part (and the movie around them is good).
  6. I figured after seeing the movie weeks ago that there were things in the third act that were probably going to turn off some people. Now my A- predict is looking optimistic, lol
  7. I mean, even the tweet mentions the ”reboot” part is itself clickbait… 🙃
  8. Would be a pretty poor drop for Transformers, but fantastic for Little Mermaid and GotG3. TLM would even be running ahead of Aladdin at that rate.
  9. Sub-$60m for Flash alone would be disastrous, let alone $50m. Even below Black Adam would be pretty bad given what's gone into it.
  10. Unless it craters against Flash this weekend it should get there. Only needs another $18.7m after Monday.
  11. Flash sales for today here are… not great. Unless walkups are really strong, OD is looking weak. Spider-verse is actually not that far behind it RN.
  12. Pretty sure that’s just Mojo shuffling around a placeholder they had. Waititi’s film wasn’t brought up at Celebration and the trades have been saying for a while that the Rey movie is supposed to be the first one out.
  13. Continuing to track just a hair behind Aladdin. $300m+ still very much on schedule bar a disaster in the coming weeks.
  14. Romantic comedies do get greenlit! ...On Netflix.
  15. Still fewer than 50 ratings. I wouldn't put too much stock in it just yet.
  16. Sc4vs I’m gunning to have the meat of it be finished by July 8th. I’m going away for two weeks after that so I won’t have much time to write during that period. Hilda 2’s being worked on whenever I need a break from Scavs, but that’s going to take a lot longer still since there’s story issues I need to work out still. Third priority will be His Face All Red/Anya’s Ghost and then Mummy last.
  17. Highly doubt they're going to want to rush DP3 to an even earlier date than the one it was already delayed from. It's more likely Cap 4 gets pushed to Thunderbolts date.
  18. I said on Telegram that I was gonna do it, so... Due to the rise in soundtrack/score descriptions over the past few years, I've come to the belief there should be a separate thread for this stuff instead of having it inevitably be buried in the magazine thread. However, since there still might not be enough descriptions every year for it to be worth having separate threads, I'm putting up a "general" score descriptions thread that'll last indefinitely. In order to make scores easier to find, I'll include an index in the first post with links to each score. A few ground rules: No discussion or unrelated posts go into this thread - Think of this as an archive. I'd rather not have it be filled with posts that are not the score descriptions themselves. The only exceptions will be to announce any addendums to the rules or thread bumping if the thread falls too far behind and thus becomes harder for players to locate. Do not post score descriptions for films that are not completed - This one should be self-explanatory. If your movie's not finished, neither is your score. Nothing says you can't work on and then post them side by side, but only films that have been posted in the year's part one thread get to have their score descriptions posted. Listing the composer and the film/score's release year is mandatory You are allowed to include scores for multiple films in one post, but you can't cross years - This is so I can actually archive your scores. Basically, you can describe multiple scores in the same post, but they all have to have been released in the same game year. So if you have a post with a bunch of Y10 scores, you can not reuse that post for Y11 scores, and so on. You are also allowed to do one score per post if that suits your fancy. You are not allowed to add or subtract scores that weren't in the original post - Again, so I can actually archive it. If you have a post with say three score descriptions, but then decide you want to add a fourth one at a later date, the fourth score should go in a new post. Nothing should be removed either. I try to keep it so that I update the index whenever a new post is made in this thread, meaning there's a chance I'll miss a score if it gets edited into an existing post or removed from it. You are allowed to repost scores from previous years - Same rules will apply: list the composer and release year, and keep the years separate. No combining all your previous work into one post. All scores will get separate links in the index, even if they lead to the same post In the index, films/scores will be listed by release year, and in alphabetical order The index will be found just below this text once the first few scores have been posted.
